1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

So this is the deal guys i put in a 2001 gsr swap into my hatchback i want to keep it obd2 since i live in MA and i was wondering if i can use the civic si ecu since it is a obd2 ecu? Or can i just use a 99-00 ex ecu?

use obd2 p72

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

to answer your question, YES you can use the obd2b civic Si ECU if yu are running your car as OBD2b. also, YES you can use the 99-00EX ECU.
*i do not RECOMMEND you usng these ECU's as your car will not right to full potential. You may also risk bad gas mileage and other things too.
but as the guy above me said, you should find a stock obd2b GSR ecu.

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

I would seriously use a OBD2b P72 ECU. I tried using my EX ecu for the hell of it and it wasn't performing that well. Currently I'm running a OBD2a P72 since my car is OBD2a, getting similar gas mileage as I did in my y8. Also running different factory ECUs may result in running lean on your motor and eventually you might blow it.

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

It will also throw cels with either ecu.

You cant pass emissions with obd1? a chipped and tuned p28 would be my first choice.

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

I just need it to pass my emmisons and get a sticker

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

oh then get a p72 ecu, and should be just fine make sure its obd2b or you will need a jumper harness.

good looks dude, but dont they have a immbolizer?

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

just get a p72 obd2b

any other computer will give you a engine check light since gsr has secondary intake manifold runners with throtles, unless you run a p28 tunned or delete the throtles plate at the intatke manifold or use a blox,skunk2 intake manifold and run a p73 ecu

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

I think the obd2b integra DID have immbolizer, i could be wrong though.

i do not think he will throw a code for secondary butterflies if he runs the GSR ECU. i have a JDM b16 head on my GSR block running an obd2a P72 GSR ECU. no check engine light.

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

i would use the ecu that is made for the head of the engine... less issues

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

I tryed the gsr ecu but won't turn on because the immbolizer. Any idea guys I just need a stick lol

Re: 1999 civic gsr swap ecu problem

ok then just get the p28 chipped with the gsr basmap and youll be good to go with a ecu tune... if you are still confused then call a honda shop that deals with swaps and they will tell you exactly what you need which im sure they would tell you to run the ecu im telling you to run
