Ef hatch front lip question

Will a front lip from a crx fit on an ef hatch? Ive been told yes, and no, and just want to know the REAL answer. I know the crx has those "cubbys", or indents for fogs, and thats not what Im worried about, I can always dremel those off. Im just talking size wise. Are the bottoms of the bumpers both the same size?

I have a 91 si, and the oem lip is nice, but I want something aggressive. And I can find more options for a crx bumper than an ef... Thats why Im asking

And on that note, if they wont fit on my bumper, does anyone know of a good place to find a lip for my ef? Theres always the going other manufacturer's route (v dub, volvo, renault) to get an aggressive lip, but I kinda wanted to keep all my parts in the honda family...

Any input would be great:hugs:

Re: Ef hatch front lip question

u can use a poly rep mugen lip for a eg hatch or modify the rep j's racing

JDMkid413 04-20-2010 06:02 PM

Re: Ef hatch front lip question

if u use an eg lip u must cut it down... thats what i did and doesnt look half bad either... but as for the question... after i cut my eg front lip i traded my 90 crx for a 89 hatch and it didnt fit the front bumper it was too long... but now i have a 90 si and the lip fits the front bumper just fine... im not gonna say im 100% but as long as u have a lip from a 90-91 crx it should fit lengthwise...

Re: Ef hatch front lip question

So an Eg lip will fit? I have one of the rep mugen style. Ive test fitted it, and pondered at the possibility of makin it work. Do you have a pic of how yours fits? Curious as to how to cut it down. Did you attach it from the bottom? or did you drill at the bottom of the grille opening...

Ive seen the volvo lip, its very similar to the mark III jetta/golf lip. Looks great, but the volvo lip I cant find... have a website I can order it at? Or is it a dealer part

heres a pic of my eg lip... i dont have a pic of it on my hatch yet but this is on my crx... i had decided to cut the lip in the middle and leave the regular mounting tabs on the ends... i also plan to fiber glass the middle and make it look like it was never cut but thats when i stop being lazy...

this is actually the best picture i have of it and how it was mounted

front end

just to clarify, yes you can use a 90-91 crx si front bumper or swap the whole front end on, no cutting needed. i helped a freind do the conversion on his 91 si hatch, we swapped the whole crx front end onto his damaged hatch, and swapped the damaged hatch parts over to the parts car crx. find one with a factory lip, and you get 2 birds with one stone.

heres a pic of my 91 crx si front and rears, just for kicks. i love it, needs painted though lol these pics are from the first day i got the car, so pardon the shitty paint lol and i STILL need a lip...

Not yet... Lol. Im kinda picky. The EG mugen lip idea I dont really like. I dont like cutting anything in the middle. It takes ALOT to get that cut to disappear. The DA Lip Im liking. I dont mind trimming ends. So I guess If I had to pick top three, itd be somethin like

1. Volvo
2. Jetta/Golf MkIII
3. DA

Everyones input, Is slowly helping me decide. Thanks guys...
