B18 swap
I have a 2001 Honda civic ex that has a d17 in it currently. i also have a 91 si that has a frankenstein swap of a B18 block with a B16 head. My problem is that from talking to people around wv they say that the b18 has a obd0 wiring harness and the d17 has an Obd2 harness. Can this engine be swapped into my 2001 civic and will it need a new wiring harness? also if anyone knows who can custom make a wiring harness any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx Vanny |
Re: B18 swap
Man I wouldn't even mess with this at all, b series motors and our gen civics are as different as they can be. Everything for this swap would have to be custom-mounts, wiring, etc. Check the FAQ.

Re: B18 swap
seriously.. how many times are people going to bring up a b swap in a 7th gen. it is NOT possible. yes.. it has been done once.. by AEM.. not in a garage with some shade tree mechanic. either pony up for the k series to swap in or trade your 01 for a 2000 or earlier civic and swap the b series into that.

Re: B18 swap
yeah the k22 would be awesome but the problem is i have all the parts including turbo for the b series. i cant let all that money go to waste just cause its all gonna have to be custom and also i do want to be different .... as far as i can find this particular swap has never been done before at least not in my car.

Re: B18 swap
Also h22, But you have to do some ridiculous stuff like putting the radiator in front of the radiator support. To much mechanic work for nothing.

Dude, K swap or boost. The only thing you will be able to do to make your 7th gen "Fast". |

Seriously... do you not read... IT HAS BEEN DONE.... the swap is illegal..

Re: B18 swap
If the swap was done in the US.. there are federal laws that make it illegal. Smog inspections or no, it's still not legal. No older engine may be put into a newer car. I don't have inspections or smog in my area either. I'm not saying you will get caught, but it's still not legal.
The k22 engine refers to a k24 block with a k20 head.. thus k22 |

We don't go around and call B20B w/ B18C B19A. I think he was just mistaken of H22 instead. K24 bottom + K20 top is what we call a Frankenstein K. Just like how we call LSV/B20V Frankenstein builds. |
