It could absolutely be a clogged fuel filter. your symptoms are actually pretty common for that. i'd say it's a safe bet to start there.

i would change the fuel filter, if nothing else its cheap maintence

whats with the white smoke coming out of my intake after it sputters and shuts down when it can't turn on though?? is it burning gas or something? jw lol
it also makes a POOOF noise from somewhere just as it dies out.. |

i just took off my short ram intake and found oil on top of the throttle body? shiettt

The oil could be from the sputtering. You should change your fuel filter first and see if it starts.

will be changing asap!! could a clogged cat on my exhaust manifold stop it from starting also? my stock d16y7 exhaust mani has a crack on top near the o2 sensor but been running fine for the past few months and i dont have any check engine light on

If the cat was mounted after the exaust mani. it would'nt be much of a problem. Sense you have the exhaust mani. cat. it could cause a problem being it is so close to the head. What you could do for now( before you get a new one and you are sure its clogged) is remove it from your car and hollow it out. This is illegal in most areas so get a new one right away. Also watch out because if cold air gets in your head when the engine is hot it can wrap your head. But still change the fuel filter first.
