obd2 dizzy with obd1 ecu
 

I have 99 civic si with a stock b16a2 block and b18c5 head. Im running a chipped p28 obd1 ecu. Im getting a P1381 cyp sensor code so im thinking my dizzy is out. I want to buy a new one and would like to know the different types of distributor i can run with my car. If any is better than others. if i would need to or should run an obd1 or obd2 dizzy..and if i can run a obd2 b16/gsr dizzy. thanks. Its mostley bc a new dizzy online is like 400 bucks! i was like hell na

What dizzy is on it now? T84 or T87 I believe? Just make sure your new one is OBD2.
I just replaced mine because the bearing was failing. 1999 GSR OBD2 dizzy, running a P72 OBD1 ECU. I only had to replaced the housing, it was like $300 dollars.
Distributor King on ebay is OK. Same as Rich Porter Distributors. I did some research on both of these, some good and some bad results.

You will need to get the 99-00 Civic Si Dist if you want it to plug into your harness.

Looks like the Si is actually TD-81U
With Tec Distributor Td-81u, Td-84u, Td-86u & Td-87u all of these are the same. Same wire harness connector.
One thing to keep in mind, if you do not get the exact same one you removed none of the parts are interchangeable. Cap, rotor, ignitor, coil will not match up.

another thing to upgrade is the rotor to a type-r oem rotor. they are much beefier than all the other vtec dizzy rotors. while involved in road racing we found that the non itr rotors would actually break after awhile. just a thought.

The OP has a TD-81 on his Si now.
If he gets the replacement from Distributor King or Rich Porter Distributors it will be there TD-84. If everything works correctly he shouldn't need to move any parts from the OEM dizzy, but if something is no good or wrong, the parts from the OEM will not transfer to the new. The cap and rotor are even a different size.
