what are the best full coilovers out there right now for the fa5?

Looking for an affordable, but great quality full coilover set for the fa5... right now I have the s2 lowering springs and I hate the ride its too bumpy... looking for that smooth comfortable ride where I don't feel every bump I hit, but has that clean drop the s2 lowering springs have... thanks in advance for the input...

You ask for the best in the title then say affordable in the thread? Those 2 don't mix you will have to compromise if you want something cheap.

The best full coil-overs available for the 8th gen Civic are Moton's, they are expensive but you get what you pay for.

There are cheaper alternatives but they won't perform or ride as nice as the Moton's.

Well I guess I should have put best affordable in the title... but I mean if its gonna give me everything I'm looking for in the ride I'm willing to spend the extra money... I mean ur affordable and my affordable may not be on the same page so how expensive are motons?

Moton just announced a new line that doesn't have a remote reservoir which will bring the price down a bit. I can find out on Monday if you are really interested. The 2-way MotorSports retail for $6,953...you can find them for a little less.

I decided to answer a subjective question with a subjective answer. What subjective answer would you provide?

Sorry guys Moton >>> Spoon for both race and daily driver duty. Do some research. Moton makes the best suspension available for an 8th gen Civic. Period.

When I went on their site, they didn't have an application for the 8th gens (2006+). Still pretty new I guess.

What's affordable to you may not be affordable to the next guy and vice versa. Honestly, you have to ask what are you trying to accomplish and set your budget accordingly. If you can't afford what you want perhaps you should observe some patience and stash your cash. Coilovers that use the same knob to adjust rebound and compression are mediocre at best, but not everyone can afford units that have separate adjustment much less top of the line that don't. Also, not everyone is trying to put a full race suspension on their car. The main benefit of coilovers is corner weighting a car. I say you get a great lowering spring and strut package and be done with it. I'd say people put coilovers on their car just to say they have them.

Bottom line, you won't get a great ride out of a system where you increase the spring rate, reduce suspension travel and have to get a strut with aggressive valving to handle it all.

^^^ Those Moton 4-way adjustable are insane!!! They retail for $13,323 :o and unless you have a race engineer to help you dial them in the 2-ways are just fine for most applications.

Have you driven on a set of Moton's? When turned down they are very nice on the street. They are not bouncy at all even with stiff springs and then when you go to the track you can change to race settings and that is where they really shine.

They haven't updated the application list on the website but they do make the MotorSports for the 06+ Civic in 2-way, 3-way and 4-way adjustable. Like I said earlier they just came out with a new line that does not have a remote reservoir which will bring the price down and still give almost the same range of adjustment as the 2-ways.

I say if you have to have coilovers and want to save a buck get Skunk2 ProC and order custom spring rates.

I'd expect ajp to say something like that...yes I'm a fan of quality products that perform. I was just trying to honestly answer the question asked in this thread:

Maybe they are too much for most people on these boards. Unless I had loads of extra cash I personally would not put Moton's on my daily driver which still has the stock suspension, but if I did have the extra cash they would be the best choice. I do have a set on one of my race cars and they are the best shocks I've ever had the pleasure to drive on.

^If the OP has to ask the question he did; its obvious he is not all that knowledgable in this area, and you know what hes REALLY asking.. I think what the OP meant was whats the best bang for the buck. He wants something that improves the handling characteristics of the car without sacrificing ride quality to much.

Id say just go with HFP and call it a day, and wait until you NEED coilovers... unless u plan on tracking ur car or u want that super cool slammed look you dont need them.

You're right HFP will probably fit this guys needs...unless he wants to slam his car.

Hopefully someone that really does want the best will read this and at least know what is available.
