Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
Good night H-T.
I have been doing a lot of research lately as my motor is ready for a rebuild. I do not want to overspend on buying forged internals when oem parts will do the job. I do intend on using arp rod bolts, head and main studs. No headwork to be done at this point in time. So far while searching on this forum, I have found that people use the P30 piston in GSR's and such, but I haven't come across anyone using them in an ITR motor. I know the compression will vary a bit with the ITR head being different from the GSR head. I would like to bump the compression up a few points, but nothing drastic or pushing the limits. I know that I need to stay away from the CTR pistons as well. Here are some info you all might want: Goals: Hit 8.8sec on 1/8th. Use: Drag(Street tires) and Auto-X Budget: What a pity..... Car and mileage: 96 Honda ITR. +140,000km Thanks in advance for your input. |
Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
p30s would lower your compression

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
I think he means the JDM p30's

Dont waste you money, skim your head .015" and raise your compression to 11.5 - 11.6 with the jdm Itr piston and get cam gears flash your computer and have a nice day |
Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
Dont trust any machine shops to mill my head where I'm from.
Any other input guys. I basically just want to increase my performance without spending a pile of cash on forged internals. |
Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
Aren't there company's out that makes thinner head gaskets to increase compression?

Why would you stay away from the CTR pistons?

it might have something to do with the 100+ threads that tell you to stay away from them and why. There are better alternatives.

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
hes from MD, give him a break :P
they have a HUGE dome which hinders flame travel. you can achieve the same compression with regular ITR pistons and milling the head. Just people hear they are from the type r and they instantly think they are the best piston ever |
Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
OP just run RS machine pistons. They work exceptionally well with no head milling. Compression is not nearly as important as running a good intake, header, and exhaust.

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
Which would have a higher compression between the P73 JDM ITR or the JDM P30 piston in a b18c5 long block?
And thanks for the people who aren't d-bags, what exactly would I search for "why not to use CTR pistons?" ass hat |

have fun. the ITRs are slightly higher. They sit closer to zero deck and have a smaller dome than the P30's do |

And thanks for the people who aren't d-bags, what exactly would I search for "why not to use CTR pistons?" ass hat lol... Seriously I wasn't being an ass hat. I'll assume you haven't been to the All Motor forum before or at least in quite some time as this is one of the most discussed subjects in this forum. I asked you to search because I know there's a lot of information available if you'd at least make an attempt to find it. I'm not in the habbit of giving info to people that can easily be found with a little effort on their part. You could use your imagination and play with the search function and see what comes up, you could start off by typing in CTR or PCT pistons, narrow the search to the All Motor forum and see what you get. you could even type that question into google and see what you get...it's really that easy. |

Thanks for the insight either way!

Their compression measurements are off quite a bit when they talk about the PCT pistons installed in the various blocks.

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
the search feature on this iste sucks since going vbulletin, not sure why, no other site has issues.

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
I agree and will often Google my search inquiries as it leads me back to HT most of the time.

Re: Rebuilding B18C(JDM ITR) with P30's
i got b18c block gsr rods and crank wit jdm itr pistons...love it! its more reliable goin wit jdm itr pistons. wit ctr pistons u might be lucky ur car runs good wit 91. unless ur hometown has higher octane. heres my b18c wit jdm itr pistons
