Re: quick ?..how do u check an amp to see if it works? ($I_Need_Money$)

things you need
1. car battery or car battery charger
2. a working stereo receiver...be it home or car..just make sure it has RCA outputs
3. a working speaker with speaker wire connected to it
4. RCA cable and
5. 3 wires, 1 for rem, 1 for batt, 1 for gnd(ground)

wiring it up: this is to be done outside of the car....preferrablly in your house or garage.

1. connect one of the wire to ground (gnd on the amp), connect this wire to the negative(-) of the battery or charger, usually the color is black.

2. connect the rca cable to your amp n to the stereo.
Red with red n white w/ white

3. connect the speaker wire to the amp.

4. turn on the stereo

5. connect a wire to the rem and batt on the amp. connect these wires to the positive(+) of the battery or charger, usually the color is red.

6. plug the battery charger in the electrical outlet

hope this helps...i did this about 6 yrs ago while i was in high school. I didn't have a way of testing if amps work without a battery, but i had an idea that if a charger was to supply a battery with a 12 volt charge, then it is a 12 volt source(duh). Hooked it all up n it worked....this is the way i test stereos n amps to c if they work

Connect 12V+ to a car battery and ground it. Take a small piece of wire and it from the 12+ to the remote turn on lead so the amp turns on. Use a portable cd player and connect it to the amp using a 1/8 headphone jack to dual male RCA Y plug. Grab a home speaker and connect it to the speaker outputs of the amp. For the 12+ and ground, you can use use some speaker wire, since wire is wire and all you want to do is test it anyway.
