Competition Clutch- Series 2300...over all experience

to any people who have used this clutch on all motor cars (daily driven)... i would appreciate any opinions on your experience with this clutch since im looking at purchasing one. i've used ACT and Clutch Masters on my previous motors. so this would be my first Competion clutch. once again, any feed back whether good or bad would be appreciated.

I had one go out on me after 2 months. Stock H22. Broken in for 800 miles. Engaged very rough even after the break in. I realize a stage 2 or higher will be rough but I guess I was not aware of just how rough. I do have to say that the support after from CC as well as the shop I got it from JJ Spec in Macon was very very good. It was a week or so after the warranty had run out and they still got me a new unit. I however went back to a Honda OEM after that because my car really does not require anything higher than a stage 1 with my particular setup. Sorry I cannot give a more positive feedback but I think maybe I just got a bad one,it happens sometimes.

yeah, sometimes those things can happen. and thanks for your reply, sounds like the engagement was fairly rough. its good to hear they have great customer service.

Honestly I wouldn't go on that. I've driven both clutches on either end of that and my experiences as well as the owner's of the car's experience were quite different.

I drove a 1680 and a 2100 and both of them were easier than the Action 2KS and the ACT extreme that I drove. All on H22s, Action and ACT in 5th gens, 1680 in a 4th and 2100 in a 3rd. All had lightweight flywheels and IMO the Competition Clutches were the best out of all of those.

I'll assume the 2nd poster had the 2100 and the engagement on that clutch was very smooth, I don't know how it wouldn't be with a full faced disk. By the sounds he's making it out to be its harder to drive than my 4 puck kevlar.

From my experience and what I've heard his is an outlier and a rarity. The 2100 is an easy disk, I woul, like he said, consider that a bad disk.

I have a 2300 on my 4th gen.
I have done a 600miles break-in, and for the first period the clutch was perfect. Very smooth engage, perfect hold power. Only the pressure plate feels a little too hard.
Gradually the engage became harsh, the clutch shakes all the car and I have to start a little hard, or to rev at 2.000rpm to avoid the shaking.
Now the clutch have 8000 miles, and I am very tired of it.
I have read that kevlar compound tends to glaze in street driving, and infact if I abuse the clutch with race driving or make some launches it became a little better (deglazing?).

im also lookin at a Spec clutch (stage2+). i want something that will have nice bite but with the exception of being able to be street driven. also lookin for a disc that will have extended life.

Yeah, kevlar tends to glaze if its overly slipped. You have to get off the clutch as quick as possible, but its very resilient and even if you beat it too hard and overheat it and kill it, let it cool down and you're right back on track. Cost vs benefit.

You might want to call up Blacktrax Performance and they can tailor a specific clutch setup just for you.
