lock-up control solenoid valves??
I have a hona accord '94 none V-Tec engine, and i recently got the transmission codes. Thanks to a fellow thread member i double checked my transmission codes (D4 Flash) one is for the VSS bit then i have 1 long blink followed by 2 short blinks and then a long pause followed by the 4 short blinks (VSS) since there is NO transmission code 12, im thinking it is codes 1 and 2 which are the lock-up control solenoid valves?? i read they are used so the transmission can shift smoothly which could explain why it shifts a little hard. anybody have more information about this or experience?? i hope its not a huge problem (Who am i joking)

Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
It probably is TCU code 12.
Code 1 through 9 are indicated by individual short blinks. Code 10 through 43 are indicated by a series of long and short blinks. Code 1 would not have been one long blink. Take care of the VSS issue first and then see if there are any other codes after that. Change the automatic transmission fluid using Honda brand fluid to help the shifting. |
Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
okay thanks, alot. ill make sure to get that done as soon as possible. do you by any chance have a link to a code list for the TCU?

Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
oh yeah, and what are the chances of those solenoid valves to go bad? it doesnt sound like something thats common, more like something thats takes ALOT of wear and tear to do?

Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
The link that I posted in your other thread had various links within it, including the codes.
Here are the codes: http://techauto.awardspace.com/dtc.html You can read more about the transmission here: http://techauto.awardspace.com/transmission.html On your generation Accord, the automatic transmission generally did not have problems, as long as proper maintenance was done. There are many other info. in the link. |
Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
once again thanks so much

Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
Solenoids do go bad on occasion, and are almost always replaced during a transmission rebuild.
I would follow tech8's advice first, and see if any problems still occur afterwards. |
Re: lock-up control solenoid valves??
Does anyone know of how to clean the screens in behind the shift control solenoids? Will this help get rid of moderatly harsh shifting? I am fixing my sisters 93 accord and am unsure of how to go about cleaning the solenoids and screens?
