Illuminated ignition switch

Anyone know how the switch is illuminated on the EX and SE models and if it can be adapted to an LX? Thanx!

from the looks of it, you probably can. but it may take some modifications. i've been wondering about this for my lx too since it's useful in my ex.

Re: Illuminated ignition switch

I just haven't seen what the setup is on the EX or SE. Is it like a separate bulb that shines on it from the dash or a lighted ring around the key tumbler, like on my Odyssey? I've tried looking at the parts diagrams but nothing showing other than the immobilizer unit. Guess I could ask the parts guy I know at the dealer if he has a clue.

Here's a picture of it in my '02 EX coupe.

It's tied in to the automatic dimmer for the dome lights. They all light-dim-off sequentially.

Looking in the Helm's manual, it appears that it is part of the ignition switch assembly. It's all one unit.

Thanx for the pic, I poked around the diagrams a little more and compared the part numbers for the LX and EX steering lock assemblies and yep, they are different. Don't think I want to spend ~$250 just to light up the keyslot, though; probably cheaper to feel around for it! Or the trouble to get a junk one from an EX and adapt it. I should be getting my Helm manual in today so I will be more edjamacated. Cheers. :)

Some has to have a step by step on how to do this.. Looks good in the pictures. How bright are the LEDs once there wired inside the ignition?
