rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
Hi all, I know the correct part for this application,AUTO TRANS. its the rear mount with the "handle" on top and the attached soleniod valve. I just wanted to know what brand would you recommend.
The reason I need to change the mount again is that I was promised that the mount without the solenoid valve would work for my specification, which it did.. what the salesman didnt mention is that it would cause a HORRIBLE vibration at idle.. im talking entire dash resonating and shaking etc.. seems that soleniod valve is more important than I was led to believe... so anyway, here it goes again Obviously, I would prefer OEM because most after market parts seem to be harder and more prone to vibration, but at over $200 each... i may have to pass on OEM Of the aftermarket brands, is there any you people will reccomend? I saw "anchor" selling on rockauto for about $45.. Also saw beck/arnley for $92 which I think is grossly overpriced AutohausAZ seems to have some decent selections as well, ive dealt with them before, good honest site http://sd.autohausaz.com/autohausaz/...Engine%20Mount This also looks like an option worth considering http://www.familycar.com/store/item/..._WSEM8984.html ebay also has quite a few ranging from $25 up to $80 but I have no idea which would be a good call.. the main one im considering is a new one from a brand called DEA products http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...Q5fAccessories Also this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-91...Q5fAccessories Also, there is a used OEM mount but im not sure if its a good idea to buy used.. it is half the cost and will be a guaranteed fit though.. In the end, does the brand matter or are they all roughly the same quality (or lack therof) Thanks in advance! |

It will fit if you change the mounting bracket as well. As an fyi.
I got the OEM equivalent from TAS Auto on my Accord for the H swap before I sold it. I don't remember it being terribly pricey either. |

I'll have to look into it, probably give them a call tomorrow...

Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
While it may be identical to the ebay ones, I'm unsure but I was quite pleased with the quality of it. I got the OEM front and tranny (cheap) and oem equiv (drivers and rear)

Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
interesting that TAS sells the solenoid separate from the mount.. they told me that you can just bolt it on...
technically that means I can take the solenoid from my old mount and slap it onto the new one... lets just hope it plays that way because I think the mount has the attachment point for it... save me a cool $60 or so |
Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
on that rear mount since it is so hard to change id put a honda part in it , lots of after mkt mounts are harder and vibrate more, if its a 4 cyl automatic it has to have the vaccume to it .

Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
well, i was told that the solenoid can detach and mount onto the new aftermarket mount, but I dont really think that is possible so i'm off hunting for the correct part again..
in the meantime, car rides fine when your moving, but at idle.. wow, horrible vibration need to keep shopping around to see what I can get |
Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
sorry to bring this thread back from the depths..
I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how the vacuum solenoid system on these rear engine mounts works.. I am currently running the mount without the solenoid (crappy aftermarket replacement) and despite people telling me to remove my original solenoid and add it to this, I cannot see any way of detaching the solenoid from the OEM mount.. So, the car still has the horrible idle vibration, and I am trying to solve this.. I am assuming its the mount but I am looking to other symptoms as well.. Has anyone found aftermarket mounts to have such a hard rubber that they cause vastly increased idle vibration, or can I attribute this to the lack of the solenoid.. If someone can explain the workings of this solenoid, I would appreciate it.. Thanks |
Re: rear engine mount for 96 accord 4 cyl
the engine mount you describe uses vacume and a solinoid to apply vacume to rear engine mount at idle to reduce vibration, needs to be working , it moves fluid from the inside of mount to achive a softer mount at idle, i dought your problem is the mount but it may be, i would not recomend after makt mounts as many ive seen are not very good, do as you will
