Automatic Transmission Filter for 2001 Civic LX

Is there an automatic transmission filter for a 2001 Civic DX? I have heard there is not one....unless you have the transmission rebuilt/replaced

people add them in. I can't remember the part number but a suitable filter is available from Honda that is connected in the cooler lines that pass through the radiator. Do some searching and you'll probably find it.

Is there any advantage to adding them, if they aren't original equipment?

Yes. Im not honda specific sure, but an auto trans is a lot more sensitive to metal flakes then a motor. So it would be a good idea to put a filter in. Im curious to know if they have the filter in the line going to the oil cooler or if its inside the trans like my 72 Roadrunner' trans.
