Color Dots on tires
Guys,
what does those colors mean? i see yellow, red, and blue sometimes. i see mostly yellow though. right now 2 or 3 of my tires have dots, except for one. |
Re: Color Dots on tires
The dots on the sidewalls represent where the valve stem should be placed when mounting tires. Before tires are sent out they're inspected for heavy spots. For a better balance, place that dot exactly where the valve stem is on the rim and you may not have to use weights at all.

Re: Color Dots on tires
If a tire does feature color dots on the sidewall, one or two dots may be used. A red dot indicates the tire's radial runout high point. A yellow dot indicates the tire's point of least weight, from a balance standpoint.

I vote to sticky this info! Very good to know if you're trying to run high speed or tuck tire as safely as possible.

Re: Color Dots on tires
Damn I have been messing with cars for 15 years and I have always wondered what it meant. I have heard about the light point of the tire but I thought the guy who told me that was talking out his ass.
