Seafoam engine treatment reviews??
 

Im thinking of using seafoam treatment on my engine and jsut wanted to know what yalls experience with it is. is it good? the websites says it can go in my vacuum lines, crankcase with oil, and my fuel tank.... does it do a good job without harming anything? I want some reviews and how well of a job you think it did. Im paranoid after using Lucas engine restore on my engine which does work very well, but once you use it, it forms a very thick, putty like coating on the bottom of your oil pan :( :(

put it in the gas tank and after the giant cloud of smoke i honestly felt like my car was so much cleaner
it had 300k miles haha im sure it loved it too

I've used it once and it made me nervous! Put 2/3 in the gas tank and 1/3 through the vacuum line.

Hearing the engine keep revving and stuff and then slowly letting it suck up the seafoam is crazy. I didnt have that much white smoke, but for about 1 week after I did it it ran a bit rough but then smoothed out. Didn't really notice any chance.

I've used the Seamfoam treatment in my 91 Toyota Pickup (200k) & my 'Ccord (100k). I've also used it on a 98 Grand Prix GTP (90k). I've always injected it through the vacuum line running from the brake booster that runs to the valve cover.
Use a funnel to get it straight into the line, and make sure you use the proper amount thats listed on the can.
Worst case scenerio: It doesn't affect anything [good or bad]. It wont hurt your motor at all. The purpose of seafoam is to break down the carbon buildup in your injection system and block.

Note: the longer you let it sit, the more it will work. Ive always been so impatient and couldnt wait to see the fat cloud of smoke after 15 minutes.
Your ecu might cause the engine to die while it works to compensate for the air/fuel mixture.

& its more effective on higher mileage cars. (180k +)

Just be careful. You could bend a valve if you start flooding it with seafoam. I put it in a plastic cup and let is sloowly suck it up. Took almost 10 minutes...maybe 5.

Yea, after seafoaming is totally fun. And yea, it's recommended for cars that have lots of mileage.

I noticed the biggest difference feeding it through a vac line. I did it when my accord had around 170k miles. The car ran a lot smoother after that and the clouds of smoke was pretty fun.

I recently used it in my 96 Accord V6 to combat that 'value slap' noise Honda is famous for. I put in half a bottle but the value tap is still there, I'm taking it to a mechanic soon because the noise is driving me crazy at times!

I used Seafoam to my higher mileage cars. What can I say, it works great. When adding to the fuel tank, it just felt the car was running better. Felt clean.

I added to the vacuum line also, works great, even cured my random stalling at the stop light.

I like it, great product. Worth the money.

Its excellent, just change your spark plugs after with a nice oil change.

What? You want to change your oil AFTER seafoaming, not before.....

I've used SeaFoam in many of my non-turbo cars, my parents' vehicles, and any one else who requests a tune up from me. On older cars I would use them every 4 months or so, and newer cars, ever 6 months. It really helps with fuel economy.

I'm not so sure I want to run it through the vacuum lines in my turbo setups though.

i have been reading rave reviews about the sea foam and have had a few customers come in with check engine light on. we have seen a cat fail and several o2 sensors. not sure if its related but about 200 or so miles after the treatment the problems come on.
just my 2 cents

I haven't had it happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if the carbon deposits flying out of the engine gets caught in the cat causing it to clog and fail.

These 2 particular "problems" and CEL come on after seafoam because people tend to spill over their bay and the seafoam can land on sensors, especially an o2. This liquid on any electric device will destroy it.

^ I highly doubt its from spilling it. You do realize...that your o2 sensor can get wet when driving in rain? So how would spilling seafoam on it affect it any differently?

But yes, failures are due to the carbon breaking free and clogging cats/sensors.

Well... call me dumb... but could i de cat my car and run an open header withou the o2 sensors in to avoid any failure? a pain yes but i have too much free time ha. New cat = $$$$$$

i used it on my 250000 mile toyota corolla(1995) and after daaam i noticed it idle better responded better and ran smoother and a bit quiter and was gettin a lil bit better mileage(feels like a brand new car and its way more powerfull than a 2001 corolla)
oh and i didnt swap out my spark plugs or 02 sensor and its been well over 3000miles
i gues it all depend on how much carbon build you have that will affect you 02 sensor and clog your cat

i never used it in my gas tank but it sound like alot of ppl who use it in there gas tank have good results

and i also hear ppl go to junk yard, pull some spark plugs and an O2 sensor sawp it out and then pour the seafoam and then when done with oil change and everything swap the good spark plugs and 02 back in..... a pain but better then end up having to spend the extra cash on sumtin that can be avoide
