Sloshing sound
I've noticed a sloshing sound everytime I drive. It's very consistent, everytime I drive off it sounds like water's running out of a hose or something.
Today I did a test, put it in N and kept it at 1500 rpms, keeps hearing that sloshing sound. The car isn't moving though. Anyone got an idea as to what it may be? |
Re: Sloshing sound
Air trapped in the cooling system and heater core? Check whether the coolant level is low in the radiator and reservoir.

Re: Sloshing sound
most likely water running through your cooling system into your heat core/ ac
|
Re: Sloshing sound
I hear it more when ac/heat is on, so that makes sense. How do I fix it, drain all the coolant and refill?
|
Re: Sloshing sound
I just checked it, the overflow container is wayyy below the "low" line, should I add more antifreeze?
|
Re: Sloshing sound
When the engine is cold, top off the coolant in both the radiator and the reservoir. Then bleed the system as detailed in the service manual.

Re: Sloshing sound
Thank you, I'll do it tomorrow. Would that make any difference in performance at all? I've been getting 22 mpg for a while now and I can't seem to figure out what's wrong...my dad hasn't done anything to this car for 3 years now - only oil changes.

Re: Sloshing sound
I have had the same noise. It sounds like fuel rolling around in the tank. My garage who deal with Saabs mostly, said it was likely to be a blocked drain from the air con. It turns out that the suspension was damaged and the air and oil were creating the noise as it was moving. Really odd but now fixed. As it happens my calliper had also seized as well as other things, so my bill ended up at twice the value of the car. Still, got to love your Honda right?!

Re: Sloshing sound
Maybe i'm daft but "the suspension was damaged and the air and oil were creating the noise as it was moving" doesn't make sense to me.
P.S this thread is seven years old. You're suppose to have a good reason to bump an old thread, not.. whatever that was. |
Re: Sloshing sound
Hi Hondur - the oil and air mixing together (due to the suspension being broken) were making a noise when the car was moving, so I thought this would be useful to others as it appears another actual reason for the sloshing sound. I therefore thought this would be a valid reason to post. There may be other Honda's out there with a similar problem.
