2nd gear and 3rd gear making knock sound when I shift.
 

Everytime 1st gear to 2nd gear is makes knock sound and also 3rd gear too.
I thought it was just normal sound. I thought it was just the engine was moving.

But one of my friend told me it shouldn't make any noise.

So I tried this morning, when I shift when RPM was over 3k, the noise gone.
when I shift when RPM lower than 3k it make knock sound.

I really don't know if this knock sound is normal?

Should I just take it to the dealer?

the sound is really like engine moving sound or... transmission sound...

get a mech that you trust to look at it first cause the dealers usually lie and add a whole bunch of other reasons that arent really problems, eventually you end up paying for stuff from them that you dont need to spend on ...

was your car bought second hand or something, do you let other people drive your car, or maybe you learned how to drive stick on this transmission (no offensive but if thats the case you may just have a smaller problem then you think so please dont take that the wrong way) there can be alot of factors you may want to consider before taking it to a dealer or mech ...

i wouldnt take the warrenty so seriously cause a friend of mine had a transmission problem in one of his new cars, it was manual and the dealer said because most parts of the transmission are wear and tear kinda parts that its not covered in the warrenty, he ended up paying out the but just for a new clutch and flywheel ... sad story, sad sad story ... : (

It is totally brand new car.
I am pretty sure that the way im driving now lol
But, I talked to one of my mechanic and he told me that, it might making a noise because of the e-throttle?

e-throttle, why would that cause noise, any noise should be considered, a great mech once told me that if everything is running perfect then there is something wrong because people arent perfect nor is anything they create ... i would trust your mech but ask him is there anything that can be done about it ... good luck

1) Get a new mechanic.

2) Take your car to the dealer.

you have a warranty, use it. don't take it to some mechanic working out of his garage. if the first dealer tries to **** with you, take it to another.

btw, where's the noise coming from? if it's from the shifter area then it might just be the normal noise of the shifter shifting. if from the engine area then i'd definitely take it to the dealer.

the clutch and flywheel ARE wear and tear parts (although they can still have manufacturing defects), like brake pads and tires.

I am taking my car to the dealer on wednesday.
I was trying to see if anyone knows.
The noise coming from engine area.
I've notice that it makes noise when I shift the gear when RPM lower than 3k.

Hopefully not a big issue..

lol i know its wear and tear parts, pretty much all the moving parts are wear and tear if you drive hard but hey if your car is that NEW maybe the warranty should cover some wear and tear right?

no, that's not true. everything inside the engine other than the oil is not considered 'wear and tear' parts, same thing with the tranny. i know the brakes DO have like a 1 year warranty or something, i'm guessing it's the same thing for the clutch. as always though, it's up to the dealer on whether it's considered a manufacturing defect or user error.

I went to the Honda Service Center near my school.
They checked my car and I have problem with syncro 2nd and 3rd. So they order parts today, it should be ready by Wednesday.

And the good news is, when they put new syncros, they need to do a alignment for my car. Which my car alignment was little messed up.
So they are doing alignmet and replace syncro. ( I am not sure service guy told me that, they are going to put new syncro gear 2nd and 3rd...)

Anyway I will update once I get my car back.

Right now I am driving Dodge Caliber SXT..............(got this rent car from enterprise)
They told me they are going to give me a loaner car. So I was thinking that I will get Honda car. But they gave me car from Enterprise...Not so good....lol

Warranty by law covers basically all tranny and motor issues UNLESS they can prove that what had happened was because of user error. hence why most clutch problems do not get covered because the clutch is was is going to receive damage easiest from not pushing the clutch in all the way, or having too high rpm with clutch halfway engaged, etc.

Just got my car today.
No more noise and shifting feels much better and very smooth.
After the alignment job, handle feels more stiff.

I've been drive Dodge Caliber for 2days.
And my Si feel super fast....lol

again... 3rd gear started making noise after couple days.
no more on 2nd gear though. And sometime on 4th gear..

I am taking my car back to the dealer today again...lol

Yeah take it in the dealers coz i power shift all my gears when i race and no sound , goes in like butter :-)
