OK Chad, what do you mean by no start?
It will not crank? or
It cranks but will not start?

Did you notice any problems leading up to this point?
Is the "Check Engine" lamp on?
Is it limited to 3k in all gear ranges?
or just in 4/5th
Does it start to buck when you run up against the limited rpm?

Getting the code is your first priority. I suspect you've a sensor failure and the ecm has reverted to defaut values (often refered to 'limo home mode'

I agree, get that code checked out first. But also check your engine to make sure it is getting spark and/or fuel. Start small and work your way up.

Assuming that your connector jump proceedure was correct, the ECM can't diagnose itself; which means you must start with...
An ECM.
This is tricky since the ECM's very seldom go bad by themselves anymore. It's most often something else that has effected them.

has anyone ever crossed the jumper cables while trying to start this car?

ECM is under the steel shield on the left.
If you've an automatic, the TCM is the bronze colored box on the right
