how do i reset the SRS light on 2000 EX-L?
2000 accord sedan EX-L F23A1 with side airbags
i had another thread on here, i fixed that problem which was dumb as hell, now i have an SRS idiot light on, will the honda stealership reset this for me for free? or how do i reset it myself? can i reset it team lazy style and disconnect the battery for a while to clear it or what? :BS: |
Re: how do i reset the SRS light on 2000 EX-L?
no, i dont think disconnecting the battery will do anything.
there was a link in the FAQ but that doesn't look to be working anymore. |
Re: how do i reset the SRS light on 2000 EX-L?
in the drivers fuse box there is a 2 wire yellow connector. It just plugs into an empty cavity. 1) remove this plug and jump it with a wire. 2)turn on the ign. and wait for the srs light to turn off. 3) when the light turns off remove the jumper wire. 4) when the light tuns back on reinstall the jumper wire. 5)when the light turns back off then disconnect the jumper again. 6) the srs light will now flash twice and go off. The codes are clear. if the light goes off and turns back on then the is a failure and a code is set.

Can you please explain to someone as slow as me these parts, please?
Jump it with a wire -- what kind of wire, exposed wire or uncut wires? you mean just plug it in place where the yellow connector was? |

ok, i do not see said conncector:hammer:, the only yellow wires i see are parts of bigass connectors
maybe it got pissed that i pulled the srs fuse while hunting for blown fuses(the problem that started it all) |

Wipe out the PCM code. That's why it's just lingering there, not going away. Scan it and wipe it!

Re: how do i reset the SRS light on 2000 EX-L?
unless by some miracle i seriously doubt honda will do it for free ... my question is it safe to use that reset method? like i dont have to worry about all my bags deploying and end up having to spend over a grand for new ones lol

Follow the instructions in this link to get the sequence right. You may have to try several times to get it right.

http://www.acuraworld.com/forums/f40...ght-diy-58348/ You know what's funny? The way to get the SRS light off in a 2000 Nissan Altima. You have to turn the ignition swith to on then you have to push the dome light switch in the door 7 times within like 2 seconds to get it to turn off. This is no lie, my roommate has an altima and after a few beers and some forum searching, we found it. Then after a few more beers we fixed the problem and then laughed our asses off. What was Nissan thinking? __________________ i think they were thinking: lets make aour cars seem of high build quality to those that **** with buttons go knows how many times ive played with that door-open button |
