J32A2 swap into 95 Civic Si
I have a small build thread, to force myself to keep photos and a log, but I doubt many of you guys wander off into that forum.
Anyways, this was my first "one off" swap, where everything I did was from scratch- mount brackets, axles, linkage, etc...wiring too. It came out pretty darn good. I'm not a fabricator my any means, but I guess I can make my way around small projects. Toughest part was configuring axles lengths, for the new splines- which wasn't very difficult at all. The car rips, but it's been snowing, so it sits in my home garage. Old J outer joint splines(32 count), with Civic outer joint(30 spline count). Had to shorten and respline the J shaft to fit Civic outer joint. Running J inner joint, J inner boot, modified J shaft, Civic outer boot, and Civic outer joint with Redline CV grease. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...ne/axles-1.jpg Done(cell phone quality) http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...-One/splin.jpg Bolted in and working on wiring http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...s-One/swap.jpg Cold start at my home garage....freezing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeXCNhHuahY |
Pretty sweet!
|
Who resplined those shafts for you? Very interesting.
|
This place called Dutchman Motorsports. They're in Portland, OR. Mostly do hot rod rear ends, axles, etc.
They do little as far as FF cars go....but they do custom shafts for Rallitek also. Very good work  Better than going aftermarket IMO...cheaper, OE parts for easy replacement, and supporting local people! |
very nice.
hasport makes mounts now. how was the wiring? im really considering this as my next swap. |
wiring was gravy.
Yeah HAsport makes mounts, but why pay 650 for something that costs 20 bucks in scrap? Last I heard, HAsport's car isn't even running. |
nice job man....now find a hood that fits and boost her!
:D |
How far above the hood line does the engine go?
|
it's about 3" above the hood line...might try and snag an STi/WRX hood, reverse it, and see how that looks. I'd like it to look SOMEWHAT clean...but it's going to end up being pretty ricey I'm afraid
|
Wow, this is defenitely different. This would be a really cool car to see in person, ever make it out to any events in portland during the summer/spring?
|
I've only been in the area for about 1 1/2 years...so I've been feeling my way around the "scene" down here.
I do trackdays with Team Continental and Cascade....building an ITA car as well. But this car should be at every trackday I can make it to as well ;) |
nice wheels
|
Looking good. where are the rollina vids
|
Rolling vids will have to wait for the snow to start falling :P
Last thing I want is to try and show of my car, hit ice, then crash into a curb :P |

Not to hijack your thread, but where in the world did you hear that Hasport's car isn't even running? It's been running for many months, and I know because I dyno'd the car awhile back.. :) Also, their mounts dont look like $20 in scrap..

Material cost alone probably.
|
I think the mounts he made are nice. Judging by the picture they look oem-ish.
|
props! Great job man! Cant wait to see more vids.....
|
I'm looking at this swap right now. Any more info on wiring?? Parts, etc
|
you should throw up a link to the build thread in your original post.
stupid question, what car is that engine from? |

nice job, can't wait to see how it runs.. The mounts look really good by the way.. As far as the hood I agree it's going to be really hard to keep it from looking ricey.. Maybe you could modify a stock hood for the clearance

Get your facts straight. Tim Beadle's car is NOT HAsports car. If you need to know the ins and outs, please PM me. |

The 3rd plug, "E", holds pins for starter signal, main relay, evap, sec o2, imobi, etc. In API's white Civic, that was seen at the Eibach meet, he's running a 3.5 motor with the Odyssey ECU, rev limit at 6500. The CL-S one rev limit is 7500. I just got off the phone with Tim...we're going to try and figure out how to disable imobi on the CL-S 6 ecu to run with this swap, for people that don't have the transponder and sending unit. Custom axles, relocated rad lower mounts, and custom mount brackets- that was about it! No more difficult than a K swap...in fact, maybe even easier ;) |
