whining noise upon start up?

well.. it just started getting like 30 degrees here in the morning in pa.. and it seems like as soon as it got cold, when u start my car in the morning it makes this whining noise almost like its not gettin oil, and as soon as it warms up it goes away. car still pulls the same way it always did and seems to be running good. oil is topped off and was just changed 500 miles ago. i believe the oil pump was changed about 20k ago when the valve seals, water pump and timing belt was changed. the car didnt make this noise in the summer or fall. any ideas?

my car does that to, its b/c the belts are cold, and your timing belt or others my be to tight

it doesnt sound like it coming from over by the pulleys.. sounds like its coming from underneath the valve cover. the timing belt being to tight may be an idea.. would that explain why the noise goes away once the temp gauge goes up about a quarter notch? ive also heard rod bearings possibly going bad? im leaning away from that option though cause i got a basically stock gsr motor that i drive normal all the time.. and had a basic rebuild 25k miles ago.. including new timing belt, valve seals, valves were adjusted, new water pump, oil pump and obvisally the timing would of been redone.

if you do suspect rod bearings or any mechanical breakdown change you oil and look for metal shavings, but i bet its you timing belt, personally i would not worry about if you dont see any metal in the oil
