It will work. Seems like the "ideal" mix is 75/25 argon/cO2

15-20 seems to work great for most mild steel apps.

argon wont work well at all.. you need a mixed gas... 75/25..

as far as cfm settings, anywhere from 15-30cfm, depending on the wind factor, will work...

I have heard of people using mig gas mixtures on tig before b/c thats all they had. It wasn't perfect but it was better than nothing...is this not the case?

Or would i be better using the flux core wire??

9295EJ-t 10-06-2008 05:42 AM

just dont try welding with straight argon if gravity is gonna be pullin on the molten bead while welding..

like an overhead, or vertical bead.. flat should be okay... it just might lack penetration.

Re: (9295EJ-t)

Yeah the argon was not pentrating properly. I just used the flux core wire splatters a bit but penitrates well. Ill just grind it down a bit on both sides. and prime and paint better.
