Turbo B16a2
I wanna turbo my stock b16 but I dont no what turbo kit to get and what boost to run on the stock engine that would be safe for an everyday driver.I wanna be around 250whp. But not blow it up. I thought about building it with a forced induction brian crower stroker kit to a 1.9. With some head work. If I buil it i wanna run 350-400whp. Would that be safe to do on a built engine.

Re: Turbo B16a2 (dans00civicSI)
wow? how much money do want to spend?
and you need to make up your mind on which way to go, and you would make A LOT more than 350-400whp with a stroker kit/sleeved set up.lol |
Re: Turbo B16a2 (dans00civicSI)
Well a good start would be just to run about 10-11psi on the stock engine untill you can get something built. this will easily put you over the 250whp. once you sleeve it and get the arp set you can pretty much run a insane amount of boost but do need to take into consideration like valve springs and retainers. axles, street slicks, lsd, etc, etc, etc,. its never ending. I run 11psi on my stock gsr and get 305whp have had no problems accept traction. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: Turbo B16a2 (95dxsir2)
well im thinking more of stroking it. It would be about 4 grand to build the engine. Bottom up.I just dont no what turbo set up to get. Or does some place out there have turbo kits set up ready to buy to with stand 400+.
|
I know this is not within your power goals, just a thought though
Friend of mine boosted his stock 00 Si with the Greddy turbo kit and Greddy FMIC. He said the e-manage was shit though lol, and recommend something else. Here was his setup though, GReddy turbo kit with FMIC @ 5psi GReddy FCU NGK BKR7E's gapped at .030 Stock exhaust/cat Action Stage 2KS clutch https://www.dslextreme.com/users/tur.../dynograph.jpg |
Re: (naRIPSTA)
Nice i only question about building it cuz i gotta pay for school next year. I dont mind boosting it stock. Just i have 141xxx miles on it. I no b16a2 are cheep to so i thought about motor swaping it with one with less miles. Also do i have to switch to OBD1 for tunning it

Re: Turbo B16a2 (dans00civicSI)
I'm tellin you, with a stroked 1.9, 450whp would be low boost

Re: Turbo B16a2 (95dxsir2)
ok here the deal I had a 2000 Civic Si with the B16a2 stock on turbo on 10psi making 250 whp only lasted like 2 weeks cracked the pistons b16 can't handle turbo unless you change the pistons save some cash buy pistons and get it sleeved.

You're on some bullshit if you think a B16 can't handle turbo. There's stock B16 motors out there running way higher horsepower numbers boosted than you, and have yet to blow. Modified by naRIPSTA at 1:12 AM 9/21/2008 |
greddy kit would be peffect for you, if you wanna spend 4k on a motor do yourself a favor and buy a dart block. PLEASE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU WASTE ALOT OF MONEY MAN.
GOOD LUCK |
Re: (Mr. Em1)
If get a dart block with 84.5mm bore and a brian crower strocker kit with 84.5mm bore can i still sleeve or is there any point to cuz the block is so strong

the tuner sux then, thers plenty stock b16 with with more power that are styll holdin up |
Re: Turbo B16a2 (dans00civicSI)
my friend did this, daily drove it and DEF. didnt make 250hp and he blew his car uip n 6 psi.
b16s dont like boost man. |
have you checked the compresion numbers in your engine?
you need to know the condition of the engine before you boost it. a lot of problems can come up after you boost it. also the best bolt in turbo kit in my opinion is the edelbrock victor x kit with a p28 and bigget injectors. the greddy kit is not as good http://www.edelbrock.com/sport...shtml |

Something was definitely wrong with one or more of the above factors. |
another one of these threads??????????? there is alot of knowledge that you have yet to retain. go to the top right and click on the search button and then ask your questions and hit the archived button and search away I swear I hear one of these every day atleast if not more.
and to the guy who said you blew your b16 up in 2 weeks its because you did something wrong. they are fine to be boosted. |

b16s dont like boost man without a tune.</TD></TR></TABLE> fixed how many fools are out there running their motors without a tune https://honda-tech.com/zeroavatar/192549 |
im going on 2 years at 260hp on my b16, dont listen to the noobs, make sure you are starting off with a healthy motor and get a good tune and it will last.
|
Re: (bigD)
the tune is the most important part of the project. A lean condintion can not only melt pstions but the wrong a\f ratio can cause preignition cause lean means very hot temps. so those hot temps ignite the fuel before the piston makes it al the way up and breaks rods, cracks pistons, etc, etc. any way the tuner that I use says that its not really how much boost that kills a engine anyway its horsepower. he went on about the whole cfm's and smaller turbos vs bigger ones and so bottom line is the motor can handle it if you just get it tuned properly.
