how to wire an electric fan with a switch?
my 89' si didnt have a fan in it when i bought it. i cant find any electrical hookups where they might have taken it out either.
i bought a stock fan but now i need to wire it. i have no clue what im doing but i do know that i just want to have a switch for it to turn it on manually rather than it be triggered by the thermostat. any help? |

well if you got the stock fan for the car theres a little green round 2 wire plug at the bottom of the radiator thats where a stock fan would plug in. from there if you want it to run on a toggle switch take the 2 wires that control the fan switch there on the back of the motor near the oil filter ones green i think and the others black and extend those two to the back of a switch.

I seen a friends rex that has the fan turn on automatically when he starts the car. He got the power from a dizzy wire!

This is not how I did mine. I just took the two wires that come off the stock fan. Ran one to a ground and ran the other to a switch. From the switch I ran a wire to one of my fuses that turns on when I have the key on. Simple as that....didnt have to do anything to the back of the block. Hope this helps..if not let me know and I can post some pictures of my setup. Works great....BTW I am running 2 fans. |
