You can probably use a ratchet, instead of the special tool. It's not easy to do, without help, but it can be done. If you have someone else to hold the tensioner, while you position the belt, it's much easier. |

I hooked 2 wrenches together, basically makes a wrench with a LONG handle. Turn in the direction of tightening the bolt, that springs the tensioner lever over to slacken the belt. It's really not that difficult. You just have to be careful the wrench doesn't slip off.

Great info... i need to replace mine also.
Questions: 1)what is the milage service for these OEM belts? 2) is this the right part # 38920-RAA-A01 http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/hpa_p...nGroupID=11722 |

When is the drive belt supposed to be replaced?

Re: 2004 accord auto 4 cyclinder drive belt replacement, how to?
lol, i like how the service manual tells you how to install the drive belt.
It should read: Removal: losen auto-tensioner and remove belt. Installation: .........really..........do I really have to tell you how to install it???? |

You can also use a Bando or Mitsuboshi 7PK-1781. As mentioned, the standard service interval is 105,000 miles, however I've seen a number of them start to make noise or squeal long before that, requiring premature replacement. |

Going to replace the assc. belt on a '03 LX coupe with auto. I can get the serpintine belt tool from loan -a-tool at Autozone. Roting looks crazy on the diagrams. I have the girl that owns the car that can hold the tensioner compressed. Any other advise on how to ease the replacement.
I am guessing the tensiner is auto adjusting, and I will not have to check tenssion in 10k. |

Looking at the diagram if the tension indicator is pointing to the left it is streched and needs replacment. If to far right it is too tight.

HOW do you MOVE/adjust the tensoner pulley so that it will move enough allow belt slack to slide over all pulley? Okay i'm doing this right now. I got the old belt off. To put on the new belt, I looped it on the right spots on all the pulley and saved the alternator pulley for last. In order to move the tensioner, I have a large flat pinched in between the tensioner and the PS pulley and am pulling the flat upward/toward the front of the car.... The tensioner moves but just not far enough to slide it over the Alternator pulley. Tips? I can see that because i'm using the large flat inbetween the tensoner and PS pulley, the TIP if the FLAT is pushing the belt and therefore taking up some belt space. That's the reason why I can't slide it over the alternator pulley. ? |

I used the "borrow-a- tool" system at the local Autozone to get a serpentine belt tool. VERY long armed wrench to take the tensioner off the belt all together!
