Heat not working
First off, yes, I searched
-Blower works fine -heater fuse not blown My controls are broke so I have to manually moved the Valve switch, but either way it doesnt affect the heat of the air being blown out. Anybody got any bright ideas? |
Re: Heat not working (G0crxG0)
There are two valves the controller moves:
This valve has to be opened: (pushed toward the firewall) http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/1...olvalve0uq.jpg And this valve under the passenger side dash also: http://img287.imageshack.us/img287/9763/refinedfo5.jpg As long as those are positioned correctly.. You need proper coolant flow through the heater core and then air flow across the exterior of the core.. After the engine is warmed up,feel of the inlet and outlet coming from the firewall..Both should be warm and about the same temperature. If not,the heater control valve could be stuck closed or the heater core could be clogged up.. You can try blowing through it with compressed air with the hoses removed and the valve open.. |
Re: Heat not working (88DXCRX)
my bet is on the second picture.
stick your head behind the center console from the passenger side and look up. the cable probably popped off. it controls the air mixture flap and is the reason its not blowing hot air thru the heater core. |
Re: Heat not working (Tyson)
Good info. Will try this tomorrow.

Re: (crx(gator))
Also check inside the climate control if it's not broken like that:

Re: Heat not working
this worked for me today
good info |
Re: Heat not working
If none of that works, make sure that your thermostat is still good. If its not opening then you wont get heat. Depending on how cold it is outside, your car may or may not over heat.
But thats another possibility. |
Re: Heat not working
im not sure if this thread is dead but its worth a shot.
i replace my thermostat a few months ago when it was still warm out. not its cold -10 and my temperature guage doesnt work right. it will start to get warm then fall back down. and if my car is just sitting there running it blows cold air. but if you give it some gas it will start to blow warm. any ideas? bad heater core? |
Re: Heat not working

Re: Heat not working
ok I wanted to add something here... I am having this "no-heat" issue in my CRX, the blower and controls work just fine.
I checked the valve under the hood... good... I checked the valve on the side of the heater box under the dash, still good. I opened both valves and still no heat. The inlet and Outlet hoses are both warm (pretty much same temp). I am going to remove the dash and completely inspect everything. The Honda workshop manual says if your blower works and your not getting heat, that it could be a possibility of a few things - Cloggged heater duct - Clogged blower outlet - Clogged heater valve - Faulty air mix door - Air Mix cable adjustment - Faulty thermostat |
Re: Heat not working
OK, now I feel silly... said I checked the valves, but I only checked them from the cable, both seemed to open and close properly. I removed the header duct that connects the blower to the heater, to find a small Blue Point wrench that was blocking the door from fully opening to the hot air. I removed the wrench and re-adjusted the cable. Heat works perfect now.
Now this is something that I'm sure is very rare to happen... However, if you have already checked everything external and you still are stumped, be sure to have a look here, you never know how the work was done on your car before you had it... after all it was a 5/16 wrench ;) To remove the duct was very easy. -Simply remove the glovebox (2 screws underneath - 8mm) -remove support bracket behind glovebox (4 screws; 3 - 8mm, 1 - 10mm) -remove blower duct (2 screws -10mm ) You can reach in and feel the flap door right there, when the Air Mix door is all the way towards the firewall, it should blow cold. When the mix door is all the way towards the center console it should be fully closed, which will send all of the air through the heater core. The air mix door needs to be fully shut!, a tiny wrench allowed it to be open about half an inch and that was enough where I wasn't getting heat. Hope this can help somebody else :) |
Re: Heat not working
My problem seems to be more electrical than anything else but I seem to only have my heat actually work when the key is in between the 1-2 position of the ignition switch..... When i start my car i have absolutely nothing working heat wise but when i put the key between the 1-2 position my heat starts blowing.... Any ideas as to why it wont work with the car in the run position but works while in between 1-2!!!!!!
