Possible reasons for steering wheel vibration?

I've noticed the steering wheel vibrates when the car reach to 120km/h (75mph) and the vibration stops when it reach around 140km/h (87.5mph). What could be the possible reason?

I've been told that it might be my tires are off balance. I will bring the car in the shop soon but just want to know what to expect.

btw, my stock tires has 25K km (15K miles) , been on the track 2 times and the left side of each tires are bladed (pretty much) since there are lots of right hand turns on the track that I ran on.

TIA,
CS

Highest probabilty is an unbalance wheel. Either the tire as uneven wear or you lost a balancing weight.

you mean I lost one of those metal piece on the wheel? http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emcrook.gif

time to do re-balancing I guess.

btw, why would it only vibrates at 120km/h but not at a higher speed?

thanks,
CS

your alingment could be off, if you hit something on the road recently.

Could be a broken radial belt, that is what honda found on my new potenza's http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/mad.gif I guess that teaches me for having walmart mount my tires http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emcrook.gif
walmart = http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif tire mounting
walmart = http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif fried chicken http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

try to put your rear wheels on the front, fronts in the rear, and see if the car still vibrates. If it does, then it's your wheels (balancing, tires, or wheels). If not, then it's somehting in your suspension.

exactly - but it sound like a front wheel is out of balance or you bent the rim

okay...i know for sure the wheel is out of balance because it only vibrates at a certain speed. This is because the frequency of vibration the road and tires are exactly the same only at 120km/h. i bet at any other speed, from teh outside, you can see your tire wobble but you wont be feeling it because the frequencies are not matched.

btw, if you are socal, i can balance it for you free http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

yeh, you probably did lose one or it moved out of it's original position some how..

it could be you have dirt or somthing stuck on the inside of the wheel throwing your wheel(s) off balance

just and idea http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

or what everyone else said http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif

if you have those sticky weights, you probably lost 1 or 2. They just fly off over time. look for like some sponge/glue shit on the inside of your rim, if U run sticky weights. That could be a sign of a sticky weight that have flown off.
