HAH!! My stupid EM1 died the same way. It's most likely a distributor. this happens a lot on hondas.

check for spark. Use a spark tester or screwdriver. take off one of the plug wires and ground it out (using the spark tester or screwdriver). Spark tester is more accurate, as you can get a gap to test.

Have someone crank the car and watch for spark.

If the battery is dead, jump the car and then crank it.

If there is no spark, you have a distributor issue. I just bought a brand new distributor from ebay for $128 shipped. So dont get ripped off and pay $4-500.

Before you do all this, make sure your fuel pump is priming. When you crank, you should be able to smell fumes of unburnt gas.

Is it cranking normal...or does it seem like there's no resistance?

seems like you put more load then your battery can handle. check the voltage drop of your battery while cranking. shouldnt drop below 9.6v.

igniter or coil in the distributor. or both.
