Wiper Blade sizes?
So I am in need of buying new wiper blades but my searches give me multiple sizes on both the passenger and driver sides. So I ask you guys, which passenger and driver side wiper blades am I supposed to get in terms of size (ex. 19 inches or 475mm)?
I drive a 2005 EX Special Edition if that helps. Thanks! |

Re: Wiper Blade sizes? (toyomatt84)
From your recollection, are they both supposed to be 19"? I think one of them (probably the driver side) should be bigger shouldn't it?

They're not staggered windshield wipers, that I can remember. |
Re: Wiper Blade sizes? (SKDH)
Wiper Blade sizes for sedans are different. Driver's side is 525 mm and passenger's side is 475 mm. Not sure about the coupes.
BTW, I've been driving Honda's since 1981, and have used numerous brands of replacement inserts (rubber portion only). Without a doubt, OEM works the best... I change them in the Spring and Fall. |

It's less time consuming for me to just grab some from Wal-Mart, or the like. |

Walmart FTW https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
The first thing I bought for my car was new wiper blades (at Walmart, the day I bought my car)...b/c the morons at the dealership put the wiper blades on backwards and it rubbed on my windshield molding https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif |
Re: Wiper Blade sizes? (JimmyM86)
The sedan is 19" one side and 21" on the other. I forget which side is which.

21 is the driver side and 19 is on the pass side....that's for a coupe too... autozone has a sale BTW.... |

Re: Wiper Blade sizes? (koketsuEM2)
question. why does the wiper blade skip on the windshield and stutter on the windshield?
I bought brand new windshield wipers and it does this. |
My best guess would be that they may need the activator applied on them? Tha may be the reason for the stuttering.
Another great product I may vouche for is Rain-X. That stuff is awesome. Kind of a pain to apply but once you do the buffing water just beads up and clears windows. You can almost drive without your wipers on in the rain if you have Rain-X on. |
Re: (koketsuEM2)
that's interesting i have no idea that there is an activator for them. is it too late to apply it? haha
Car stock doesn't need it but over time yeah. i used it, never really need to use wipers. i let water build up then wipe. it's fun. |
Re: (oddmut)
My new blades came with this "activator" wipe. It smelled like rubbing alcohol to me. The instructions asked to applicate before installing. I honestly don't know if this is necessary, but I did it just to follow the directions.
Yea I love Rain-X. That stuff is really good. It's like wax for windows. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Two only downfalls I found is the application process and buffing. Also once you first apply it, applying vinyl and decals on your windows is damn near impossible. The stickers just slide off since they can't adhere hahahaha |
Re: (koketsuEM2)
that's pretty cool. just put stickers first or before hand.
Now that you reminded me of the wipe. i did wipe the blades with it. i might just buy oem ones again and just get replacement rubbers in the future. |

I think it just cleans the surface of the blade to allow a better fitment against the glass (smoother operation), and to remove any material that might scratch your glass. I've been wrong before, but it's just my opinion on the matter https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: (JimmyM86)
that makes sense too.
if the wiper blades are torqued too tight would that screw it up? |
Re: (oddmut)
I thought the blades just snapped/clipped in? The wiper blade arms bolt on (I believe), and the only thing that would mess it up is if the nuts were no tightened enough.
Over time as they dry up the blades get all gay and start squeaking and jumping across the windshield (as well as loose their ability to clear your windshield). Higher quality blades will last a little longer than some of the cheapies, but they all dry up at some point. |
Re: (JimmyM86)
i thought i bought higher quality ones according to my friend who sold them to me who worked at a car shop...
i guess i'm talking about the arms that bolt on. i had actually taken them off during a few summers ago and left them off for that summer but they've been on now. i didn't have the stutter on the blades but the blades weren't wiping so i replaced new ones, got the stutter but now it wipes. stupid stuff. http://is.rely.net/1-92-83128-l-OQ7p...WduI005zmA.gif |

I think they have "teeth" on the inside of the wiper arm where it slides over the screw...maybe they are a few teeth off to one side...maybe causing them to jump around? http://is.rely.net/1-92-30002-l-J5Zy...RHu47Ah02g.gif ...Maybe! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: (JimmyM86)
um guys...just one piece of advice...
get Bosch Icons if you get the chance...and spare change...but they're worth every penny. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: (Nighthawk7thGen)
I think i found out why my blade is skipping. not sure how to fix tho. http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif
Here's a guide if maybe it will help anyone to help me figure out how to fix. I don't know what car it is for but it looked similar to mine. http://www.vfaq.net/docs/Sprin...1.pdf Basically the driver side arm moves. In relation to the picture it moves up and down. The passenger side doesn't. https://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j...t/DSC00258.jpg I took both sides off and cleaned it all. Still moves. Retightened to the specific tension as well. |
here is the ones i use, they are good. one is 19, the other is 21

Re: (fventura03)
nice blades. will look into that. but the actually arm not the blade wobbles. it looks like the screw the arm is bolted to is loose.

Re: (fventura03)
