SRS Light

My SRS is on in my 2 door 1997 Honda Accord EX 4cylinder 2.2L VTEC Manual transmission.

Any guesses what it might be?
Is there a way to read a code for the SRS like there is for the Check Engine light?

they have a read out system at auto zone, I dont know if it does anyhting for your srs light. It might just want you to put on your safety belt, or your passenger too. Or you might need to replug a wire under the seat.

Re: SRS Light (kildar)

I ran to Checker during lunch. They have the ODB2 reader but they say it doesn't read the SRS codes and I need to go to the dealer for the SRS light. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Can I do the trick of jumping the blue clip under the glove box and counting the flashes when turn on the ignition? If so where can I find a list of what the codes mean?

Have u by accident unplugged the SRS fuse by any chance? I unplugged mine for about half a second one day and the light stayed on indefinetly until I reset it. I would try re-setting it and see if it comes back on. ITs very simple just search for the instructions to reset the SRS. Make sure to use the jumper with the small yellow plug instead of the big one. Worked for me. NO MORE SRS LIGHT>

I ran out and took some pictures.

If I jump the blue connecter will it give me the codes?

How do I reset it? That could very well be the problem.

TheMuffinMan 11-12-2007 02:22 PM

battery

remove it should get rid of the light, but you may have a legit problem

Re: (TheMuffinMan)

I must have a "legit problem" then. The battery was out for 8 days last week while I replaced the water pump, timing and balance belts etc...

The light has been on since long before any of that happened.

I still havent been able to find a list of trouble codes. I have a bad feeling I may have to bite the bullet and go to the dealer.

caverspencer 11-12-2007 02:40 PM

Okay I believe its SRS code #92
I jumped the blue clip. It had nine long illuminations folowed by two short ones.

Any idea what code 92 is?

caverspencer 11-12-2007 06:41 PM

Re: (caverspencer)

SRS Code 92 is "Faulty SRS power supply system"
I spent a couple of hours and went through every bit of wiring I dared and checked for blown fuses, proper voltage and tight connections. Everything seems normal.

Does anyone have any ideas????

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSE Help!!

You may have a legit problem. I would take it to a stealership or a trusted mechanic, they would know for sure. I think 5th gens had a recall on the SRS system... someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Where did you find the codes? Mine is "85", but I haven't been able to find what the code is.

Re: SRS Light (caverspencer)

I believe the only way to reset the SRS light (without the dealerships intervention) is to follow this.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1422442

Disconnecting the battery won't do it (been there tried that).

My SRS light comes on about once every 3 months or so. More often since I installed an under sized battery. I believe any little power glitch in the electrical system will trip the SRS light to come on. Mine seems to only trip when starting the car.

Anyway , Good Luck

Re: SRS Light (caverspencer)

Hmm.. That's a different code.. Anyways, the biggest issues I've seen with that generation is a worn out battery will turn that light on. In your situation, I would just throw on some jumper cables and connect it to another car that's running. Turn the key to the "ON" position, the SRS unit will do its self check and if it passes, the light will turn off.. And if it does, it's your battery..

As far as clearing the code, I usually use the scanner.. When in doubt, take it to the pros...

Joseph,

Re: SRS Light (caverspencer)

92 -Evaporative Emission Control Systemp-insufficient purge flow

you got another problem there buddy. the blue wire only shows CEL not SRS or anything. check all your wiring

caverspencer 11-16-2007 08:51 PM

Re: SRS Light (prelude_93vtec)

the 92 is the SRS light code not the check engine light. Jumpering the blue does retrieve both the check engine light codes and the SRS light codes.
In this case the 92 is Nine long flashes then two short flashes of the SRS light.

If there are no blown fuses, (under dash or under hood) Try resetting the system using the mes procedure. Does it recode?
