Will I notice a gain in hp/torque wise with Apexi WS2 exhaust on d16y8?

like when I start the car in first gear from a dead stop, will I really notice the power the exhaust provides compare to the stock exhaust? btw i have a aem sri, thanks.

no it would just be louder then your stock exhaust http://is.rely.net/1-92-65076-l-NREc...mLFY3DaZnA.gif

Re: Will I notice a gain in hp/torque wise with Apexi WS2 exhaust on d16y8? (ShinotakuX)

oh man, then what does the damn exhaust do? allowing air to flow better and quicker but no gain or feel of hp/torque increase?

Re: Will I notice a gain in hp/torque wise with Apexi WS2 exhaust on d16y8? (ShinotakuX)

There is a gain but if you want the flow to increase the most you need to go intake/headers/exhaust and still you wont" "feel" any gain. You will notice loder noise and will gain about 10 more HP at the most which isnt really enough to notice a significant gain in pull.

the only way you can feel the horsepower kick in is having your d16y8 turbocharged. and just to add, you can't really feel the v-tec either. it'll be loud while you push it pass 5000rpm or so but you wont feel it.

You can barely hear vtec kick in in a D series even with I/H/E.

thank u.

I don't think you will notice anything different other than the sound. I've never heard of anyone noticing a 2-5 hp difference. Now if you added 30-40 hp then you will feel something. I went from an Apexi N1 exhaust to the quieter WS2 exhaust and didn't notice any difference except for how quiet the car got. But I have a bunch of bolt-ons so I don't k now if my opinion counts as much.

You could hear Vtec kick in loud with my old 97 ex. I know a Z6 is quiet even with an intake.

I've done a bunch of your basic bolt-on parts to my Y8 motor; what everyone is saying is correct. You generally won't notice a THING minus the noise factor.

you will notice your resonator hitting things if you are low.

On an LS you do feel a bit of one, on a stock civic motor, no.

As the king of cars, Archidictus says:
"Boost or nothing"

Low compression, SOHC, four cylinder cars can't make naturally aspirated horsepower for a good price, even if you stroke the shit outta them with a bit widened bore, that can only push you so far. You have any idea how fast Bisi or any of these hardcore NA guys would be if they put all their R&D money into an FI car?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ShinotakuX &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">oh man, then what does the damn exhaust do? allowing air to flow better and quicker but no gain or feel of hp/torque increase? </TD></TR></TABLE>

Although that is the premise behind it, the D16Z6 or Y8 isn't a high output motor. You don't need it to breathe better unless it NEEDS to breathe better. It'll need to breathe better if you boost it or something, but in its stock form with it's 9.6 CR and SOHC it's not a high output motor, it's an economy motor, and only difference between the Y8 that steps it up from the Z6 is that the Y8's head and IM design is a bit diff to allow the torque band to start earlier and end later (it's not as far as the Z6 despite it's 2+hp from the factory) - it's a more "daily drivable engine" - you forget that only stupid 16-25 year olds want to rev their car to the redline from every stop-light.

As your car doesn't have a high output motor (in case you missed everything I said it has a low output economy motor built for making the best out of the low power with the shortest D series transmission and the torque curve set lower than the Z6 for better daily drivability), so it doesn't need to breathe better, the stock piping is wide enough, the only thing that happens is the tip changes how it sounds (makes it louder). No change in power though.

A header might give you 0-5hp at the wheels though assuming it's paired with a larger diameter pipe exhaust and a high flow (or no) cat.
