oh. because my friend iis doing a mini me swap for me. and he just called and said i have a blown head gasket? how do you repair/fix this problem?

and what kind of "not running good" do you mean? thanks

Re: (jdmstockeg6)

Step one: Remove head
Step two: Remove old head gasket
Step three: Replace old head gasket with new head gasket
Step four: Put head back on and torque all bolts to spec

You don't want to run with a blown head gasket. You will eventually destroy the engine.

It's not hard to replace, especially with the engine out of the car.

how much does a new gasket cost?

Re: (jdmstockeg6)

might as well do a timing belt while you in there, and the cam and crank seals.

Re: (garrettsc60-1)

depends on where you go. I would prefer OEM Honda/Acura Headgasket because it was made with quality and those usually cost $100-$150 depending on where you go. I found one on ebay for $80 which is from OEM Honda. Felpro also makes one that i used in the past and it worked great. It never gave me a problem and you can find it at Kragen, PepBoys, Autozone. And the price is about $40 at Autozone. For a peace of mind, I would say OEM

how hard is it to replace a head gasket?

Ex-Eg-Driver 09-15-2007 06:16 PM

Its a tedious job. Could take a whole day if you arent really mechanically inclined like myself.

biggishjay 09-15-2007 06:26 PM

well if he is doing that swap he would replace the headgaskit anyway. i would think

It will sound like a WRX after any idling.

Cool beans.

I just replaced mine and Im pretty sure it didnt cost anywhere near 100-150. I picked up a head gasket, valve cover gasket and timing gear all shipped for about 190.

If you are on the west coast go with slhondaparts and if you are on the east go with hondapartsdeals... why do you ask? Shipping times

mine ran for awhile, but would spew coolant out of the overflow, cause exhaust was getting in to the cooling part of the HG. Just replace it.

go to streetimports.com.they have decent prices for heag gaskets and stuff. I biult my b16 with the gasket set they have and it pretty good. you can even specify how thick( layers ) you want the gasket to be.

Just give a sealer a try before you go and get it replaced, it could save you a ton of money. Use something like Blue Devil or Bar's. Here's a link - Head Gasket Sealer | Head Gasket Sealant | BlueDevil

You just bumped an 8 year old, dead thread, with absolutely piss poor advice. I hope your future posts are much better than this one - you're off to a rocky start.
