1995 Honda Prelude Anti Theft Radio Code Help!

I have a 1995 Honda Prelude and had to replace the battery, and now the radio doesnt work. I have searched and searched online on how to fix it, and all I come up with is posts on how to find the code.

I have my code, but it has a 0 and a 8 in it...how do I enter my code???? My radio only has numbers 1-6 =[

Can anyone please help me out? Thanks a ton.

Aaron

Thanks for the help. I will take a look at the link you posted, but I have called the 1 800 Honda line for help and I think its the same info.

The help line told me about the 1 and 6 deal, which I also found online, but it doesnt work...when I held 1-6 on my radio and turned it on nothing happend the first time, then the second time I did it, all I got was the word CODE. Tried it again and nothing. All that happens when I turn on the radio is a little red flashing light that says "anti theft", no CODE on the LCD or anything.

So I was told to go to the dealer to have them pull the radio and give me the code, or pull the radio, call back, and they will send it to me in 1-3 days after I fax them my license and registration....

For what itll cost me at a dealer, it be better to just buy a new radio...wth. Oh and I guess the 6 digit number with 0 and 8 the dealer originally gave me is wrong...could that be the serial #? Why is it harder to turn on my radio than it is to buy a gun??

The next step is to try to take out my radio, anyone know how to do this easily for a 1995 Prelude? I've only found links for Civics online.

P.S. I searched this site first thing for "Radio Code" and did not find rule #5.

fcm, thanks for that link, I looked into it and while it didnt help me with my radio code, it did have an online owner's manual which is really neat...thanks!

I liked the section that they had where you can enter your radio code =[ sigh.

You don't search for rules. You read the rules before you post. Period.

if you dont have the serial number your not gonna get a code. why dont you search on how to take out your radio. i get codes from honda everyday at my work. i have the serial number when i call it takes about 5 seconds for them to read me the code after i give them the serial number. this is very easy. stop procrastinating (sp) pull the radio. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

The HU pull on your car is easy... http://www.installdr.com/Insta...9.pdf

One of Honda Motors best HU housing designs, and an easy one to install an aftermarket HU into without using a kit.

The best way to get your code is to pull the HU, drive to your local Honda dealer bring proof of ownership, get the service department to punch it up, it takes no more then a few minutes, plug the HU back in and try it, if it works, thank the guy that helped you.

I could easily get the code for you, but then what would be the point of having the coded HU, [if anybody could get the code].

I agree with rule #5, we are not supposed to hand out codes, so don't ask, if your legit, it's easy to get, however, rule #5 does not apply in this case.

As you may have noticed the testosterone BPB level is way up here at HT the last few days, so the locking of this tread, and subsequent unlocking, was the result of an itchy trigger finger, perfectly understandable under the circumstances.

This is what I recommend you do...

Spend $200-$300 on a brand name HU from an authorized dealer, local retail supports the local the community so it's the all-around best place to spend your money, buy, [or have them include it] a wiring harness adapter, this one... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA02B

or the Metra version, [70-1720], install the new HU yourself is you don't want to pay the $60 - $80 it would cost to have it custom installed with the stock pocket and recessed enough so the face of the stock HU can be used as a dummy plate to hide the aftermarket HU.

If your stock speakers, [if that's what you have] are still OK, you will be very surprised at how good they sound, [compared to when the stock HU was driving them].

You will not have to worry about a radio code again. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif 94

It was locked, but due to a technicality, it was overturned. fcm argued that he is not asking for the code, but asking how to input the code. He then filibustered and the legislature (myself) caved in.

fcm, you click the yellow window with the mountains in it. It gives you some IMG "tags". You put the image address between the two tags. [IM G] here [/I M G]

To get the address of the image, you need to isolate it from the page you're copying it from. Like for instance on that wiki link, I right clicked on the image and chose "view image". In other browsers, you have to go to the "file" or "edit" drop down lists. You can verify the image location by copying it into the address bar and hitting enter.
