does anyone know what will a bad (iat) intake air temperture sensor do??
 

yeah does anyone know what will a bad iat sensor do to an eg? what are some of the stuff that it will make your engine do? can that be the cause of the engine high reving even when the car is in neutral? make the rpms stay between 1500 and 2000 rpms?

yeah i got the cel light on too. but my problem is that the car idles very high and when the car is warmed up my idle stays between 1500 and 2000 rpms. i want to know what i can do to correct this problem. i looked on here and they said to clean the (iac) to see if it would help but nope nothing.

if your idle is weird, and you are throwing a cel the best bet is to fix the cel first.

in this case your IAT

yeah i know that i have to fix my cel first. but my question was if a bad iat sensor can make your car idle high. or can it be some other sensor or plug doing this.

yes it could be.

could be IACV, FITV, Throttle cable too tight, throttle adjust screw open too much, tps out of calibration, vacuum leak, the list goes on.

im willing to bet that if it wasnt doing this before the CEL for IAT, then the IAT is the problem and fixing that will fix your idle problem.

now, if it was doing this before the IAT CEL then you have another problem

Your car will be noticeably a LOT slower with a bad iat. The revving is more commonly iacv or im blanking out on the other sensor that causes that.

How can you tell if that the iacv is bad i took it off and cleaned it because it was dirty but it still does the same thing also you say the im is blanking out. what you mean by that? im tryin to figure resolve this mess. because it runs pretty good its just the high idling it driving me crazy and its wasting my gas.
