A b16 VTEC head on a b20 block.. help??

Hey guys, I've heard of Frank engines (short for Frankenstien engines) where you swap the heads and blocks of diffent engines in the Honda B series to create your own custom shit.. I just ran by an engine and I wanted to know if it's a good idea.. it's a b16 VTEC head on a b20 block (from a CRV). I wanna drop this into my CRX but I don't know if it's a good idea.. also do ya'll recommend putting a DRAG Gen 3 Turbo kit on it when it's complete.. any info on this swap or the turbo would be great.. thanks in advance http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/h-emblem4.gif

That will be a great idea, I'm also doing this in the coming months, but for more info check out www.crvtec.com . Place for good info on the swap.

make sure you build the block and not half ass on it. Those swaps are AWESOME..but it can go bad easily if you don't build it properly http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

I'm building a b20/vtec for my crx to compete in honda-challenge as well http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

those motors make some good power, but it all depends on how its built. getting it built right will cost you some $$$.

Here's another site that should help. http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto.html (just scroll down a little bit) Also are you going to be building the engine or buying an engine already put together? Build your own or buy from a reputable shop and get it done right the first time. hth

My suggestion... worry about getting the b20 W/OUT vtec into your car. Get it all straightened out & then go w/ a turbo. When you have all that under your belt & settled... then worry about a vtec head.

Going from 112 hp to 330 hp is insane if you have never dealt w/ it before.

Good luck,

Pete

Here you go:

B20z/type R with 11:1 CR pushing 900kg of CRX

Bhp? 230-240 (still running P30)
Torque? Shitloads of them
Fast? No doubt, kills 300bhp E36 M3

here are some b20vtec dynos, along with a bunch of others. keep in mind though that they did not just simply put a vtec head on crv block.
