ABS Pump Problem
 

Hi,My ABS pump go on and off a lot in the morning than the afternoon and some time the ABS light go's on but after a restart the light go's off. This problem is driving me nuts. No leaks, bleed the ABS filled to Max. Can any one help me with this problem the dealer wants a arm and a leg just to look at it. 1995 Accord Ex.

on your car you can jumper the Blue 2 pin connector at the passenger side kick panel and get the ABS code by watching the lite flash; it will be a 2 part code
system and sub code ie. 1 flash and then a pause and 2 flashes would be a code 1-2.

You might have a bad check valve, common problem in those units; but it would be better to know the code before any speculation.

Ok My Code is 1-3 ?

leaking outlet valve?
leaking relief?
poor contact in pressure switch circuit?

How do I troubleshoot these problems

at the 14 pin connector of the ABS unit find pins #4 yellow wire and #11 black wire.
Those 2 go to the pressure switch, leave it all hooked up for right now; next go to the ABS fuse panel on the passenger side fender, pop the top; pull the big relay and put a jumper across the bigger terminals to make the ABS pump run until you 'hear' it build pressure. The pump will slow down and get a little louder; pull the jumper, and quickly mark the fluid level on the reservoir.

Now you can unhook the 14 pin wire connector and check for continuity on the yellow wire #4 pin and the black wire #11 pin; now if you lose continuity and the fluid level <U>does not </U>rise, the switch has gone 'stoopid'
The system should hold pressure for 30 minutes; you can also watch to see the fluid level rise back up if the valve is bad.

If the fluid level rises and you lose continuity on the switch wires, it's a leaky check valve.
The only way to replace the little check valve is to replace the unit.

I even tried to get a local machine shop to make them, told them they could sell hundreds of them, but they didn't take the bait.

I have conitinuity between pin 4 YEL and pin 11 BLK gnd on female terminals (ok) but between pin 4 YEL male terminal and body ground I have battery voltage so how do I fix the open BLK wire between the pressure switch and body ground or poor ground?
