Try using a p28 ecu because thats what i am using and it runs and idles fine. One more thing check your injectors to see if they are properly

hondaej2nr 04-05-2007 04:14 AM

aight ill try that thankz but wht did u swap the d15b in to and are u useing the stock harnest .?

one more thing i really dont wanta bye a obd2 to obd1 conversion harness can i use a p72 (gsr( obd2 or will it not work the same

hon da top 04-05-2007 04:26 AM

y use a b-series ecu on a sohc? just get an ex ecu.

For starters, quit using a Y7 ECU with a 2-wire IACV - the two don't work together.

Ive had this problem before.

Get the RIGHT ecu, either P28 or P2e (96-00 EX)
As for your gas problem, you need to replace your MAP sensor, its gone or going bad, and causes the ecu to tell the pump to go into overdrive and pour all the gas in. Literally, when it went bad i was getting less than 100 to a tank, and smoking like crazy on VTEC from the richness of the mixture.

You need an EX wiring harness, you cant use the 3-wire plug with a 2 plug IAC. They both work on 2 diff platforms and cannot be bypassed. Get an EX wiring harness and an EX ecu.

Re: (97Ej6mike)

the p2e, is the y7 ECU. You would want a p2p. However, I don't know if the d15b has a knock sensor in it, and if it doesn't you won't get vtec to engage becaue you will need to knock sensor.

If you want to run an OBD1 motor, your best bet is to run an obd1 ecu to accompany that engine.

You can use your same harness, you just have to splice in the 2 wire into your three wire. You have to cut the three wires, disregard the orange wire, and then match up the others blah blah blah.

Just buy the obd2-obd1 jumper harness and be happy.

big-cat 04-05-2007 09:04 AM

is the d15b an obd2 or obd1 version? either or you need a y8 or d15b wiring harness and a p08(if obd1) not sure what the obd2 ecu for d15b is. HONDA made certain ecu's and wiring harness's for certain cars for a reason. unless you are going to tune a ecu for the d15b, either or the y7 wiring harness is doing you no good at all.

Jakester9500 04-05-2007 09:12 AM

why would a y7 harness not be any good? all it would need is the iacv plug swapped. All of the other plugs should mate up.

I think, but I could be wrong, but the d15b was not made in any obd2 cars.

The p28 works on a z6, so it might work on a d15b as well. Just a thought.

the y7 harness is for a non-vtec motor where as the y8 is for a vtec motor.(i brought my mechanic a y8 harness for my y7 and he said a couple plugs dont hook up and i need a y7.
the only 3 stage vtec ever made came in obd2 version in japan and not the US. look it up on wikipedia.

Re: (big-cat)

Instead of starting a new thread I'll ask here. If I swap a D15B for a D16Z6 do I need to do anything to my ECU, or is it all plug n play? I've seen a couple people say to get an ex ecu so I can only assume that I'll be fine doing a direct swap. Also the reason for the swap is my engine obliterated the #4 rod. That is the condition I got the car in so I'm new to honda's, and working on them. Any help is appreciated.
