Squeak/Squeal when backing up.

I have just ran into a problem that may sound simple but I can't find a cure. After I start my car and start backing up I get this loud squeal/squeak from the rear of the car. I thought it could be the emergency brake but that doesn't seem to be a problem. I had my brakes replaced a few weeks ago so I don't think it's my brakes going bad already. It's not a mild squeak, it almost sounds like I'm running over a cow. Maybe I'm missing something but can someone give me some advice?

Is it the whine nearly if not all Honda's make in reverse when backing up? Try to drive another honda, back it up, and see if it's the same noise. If not, Im not sure due to you just releasing the brakes. Good luck.

I've had the car for over a year and it just started the problems. I'm not touching the brakes when it makes the noise, I'm just backing up. It's a sound I've never heard before, especially from a Honda.

What year is your accord? I'm having the same problem on my 00. I can also hear it when the car is cold and it makes the same sound when I'm braking to a stop going forward. My two mechanic friends say its the rear brakes, so I'm going to go with that first. If not then it could be the rear wheel bearings.

Could be your rear trailing arm bushings too.

I have a 99. It's starting to get more persistent now. It will make the noise when I first back up without touching the brakes and then it will do it if I touch the brakes backing up as well, however not all the time.

I had A Plymouth Laser A while ago, and when i went in reverse, it would also make a loud screeching sound, i changed the rear pads and everything

and it went away
