Fit-full sleeping?
Hi, I sometimes take long drives to visit friends and family, and often have snoozes in rest areas. I am considering buying a new car, and I seen a lot of mention about the Fit's seats supposedly being able to flip together and fold flat to create a sleeping platform. But no review site seems to have tried any test-sleeps! I am wondering if any of you owners have actually tried it out!! I am wondering if it is truly flat enough to sleep on? If so, can you stretch out fully? Is there room for two to sleep? What is the length and width?
Thanks for the help! Modified by budgie at 4:38 PM 1/31/2007 Modified by budgie at 4:39 PM 1/31/2007 |
Re: Fit-full sleeping? (budgie)
I'm 5'4" and my feet touches the glove box when I sleep on the passenger side in refresh mode. I think refresh mode is supposed to be used as a recliner (your back on the backrest with your feet stretched out).
Sleeping in the cargo area in utility mode (hatchback, wagon, and van style) is much better though. |
Re: Fit-full sleeping? (budgie)
i have never tried to sleep in refresh mode but i always have my car in utility mode and wow the amount of room you have is awesome and im 5'6 i can almost lay down with my legs straight but its still comfortable laying down with a slight bent of my legs

I don't think I could sleep parked at a rest stop honestly. I'd be much too paranoid. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: Fit-full sleeping? (Yellow Dragon)
There definitely is enough room. I am 6'1" and I can lie down just fine. I don't know how comfortable it would be, but, you can give it a shot.

Re: Fit-full sleeping? (budgie)
Slept the wife and I for a week in Yosemite. Back seats down and front seat all the way forward. The cargo cover doubles nice as a sun shade. Oh yeah I'm 6-1". It helped some that my wife is like 5'-1" though I'm sure. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: Fit-full sleeping?
Thanks for all the input. I see that refresh mode is a little short for sleeping (thanks papichat) but if one is not too tall and can sleep on their side the cargo mode works a little better. So maybe not time to sell the VW Westfalia yet! If only they made the back seat fully recline too...
Here is a great picture of refresh mode: http://www.honda.co.jp/Fit/int....html |
I'm 6'2" and I used it as a comfy couch in a relaxed sitting position. Good to get a quick snooze, but no way I'd sleep like that.

Re: (b17gsr)
Nice. With a universal gym membership (ie 24hr fitness, ballys) you could practically tour the entire USA, still shower/shave daily, and cut down on motel rooms.
[in non-freezing weather of course] |
Re: (RotaryBzzzz)
Freezing wheater you say? Throw in a sleeping bag and you're set.

Re: Fit-full sleeping? (budgie)

Re: Fit-full sleeping? (Theblackcatmafia)
O i see in ur GF Fit. LOL!
Ummmm I tried it in my friend's fit, and back support of the front seat is like a bump. So Sleeping in that thing is more of a recliner, where you still sit up, but your legs are stretch out. |
Re: Fit-full sleeping? (The-Kid)
When I seen the "refresh" mode, I thought of one focus, one focus only.. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: Fit-full sleeping? (The-Kid)
I'm 5'10" and I use a camping cot to sleep in the cargo area of my BM. I have to push the driver's side seat all the way forward, and let the seat back fold forward as far as it will go. I use a plastic crate to prop under the cot legs that overhang the area now vacated by the front seat. Very nifty, and I still have lots of room to store stuff in the car while I'm sleeping.

Re: Fit-full sleeping?
The question seems to concern the front passenger seat folded down. Does the front seat extend the flat cargo area? Can a tall person use the both the front and back together. Is the front seat on the same level. The Chevy HHR has a front seat that folds flat but it is 5 or 6 "s higher then the back. It does not combine to make a flat sleeping surface. What about the Fit?

Re: Fit-full sleeping?
rear seats can't fold flat when the front seats are folded flat.
