B20 in 1991 integra Distributor problems. Help please

i have a B20 in my 1991 Integra,i was driving yesterday and my car just cut off.I started it again and it ran fine, then my tach started going crazy. It would go to 8000rpm then back down to 3000 but my engine stayed at the same rpm while this was happening. Then my car cut off again. My check engine light will come on but when i turn the key completly off and back on it goes away and my car will run fine for a little while.Could this be the ignitor? any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yep. Sounds like the ignitor. That's exactly what happens when the ignitor starts to go bad.

try to borrow a freinds obd0 distributor (even an SOHC one will work) to see if the car starts, if it does then you will need an entire replacement
