i just got an error code on my radio display
today my car wouldnt start so i got a jump from my friend, i started the car and pushed the radio on button, "enter code" showed up and i guess it wont work until i put in the correct code. i know theres like a default or standard code you can put in like 1111 or 2222, does anyone know the exact code to put in?
i have a lx sedan btw.. thanks in advance |
Re: i just got an error code on my radio display (justdonikes)
your radio locked itself you need to either bring it to the dealership or find out how to unlock it. the dealership should do it for free

Re: i just got an error code on my radio display (justdonikes)
THERE SHOULD BE A STICKER IN THE GLOVE BOX OR ON THE TRUNK LID. IF IT READS'' ENTER CODE'' AND YOU DONT HAVE THE CODE YOU CAN TURN THE RADIO OFF AND HOLD THE NUMBER ONE AND THE NUMBER SIX KEYS ON THE RADIO AT THE SAME TIME THEN TURN THE RADIO ON AND THE AUDIO UNIT SERIAL NUMBER WILL DISPLAY WRITE IT DOWN AND BRING IT TO THE DEALER. IF THE AUDIO UNIT READS '' ERROR'' THAT MEANS YOU ENTERED THE WRONG CODE TOO MANY TIMES YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT BOTH BATTERY CABLES. HOLD BOTH OF THE CABLES TOGETHER FOR ABOUT TEN SECONDS THEN RECONNECT THIS WILL DRAIN ALL THE VOLTAGE OUT OF THE PCM AND RESET THE RADIO. THEN DO THE 1 AND 6 METHOD. yeah if you had to jump your car off for any reason other than leaving EVERYTHING on all night, you should take it to the dealer and get a new battery/alternator

When you buy a new civic, you are given a card with the radio code on it. It may be in the bag with your manual/paperwork, but the salesman who sold me my Si handed it to me (he wanted to make sure I knew what it was). They did the same thing with my dad when he bought his civic. This is an anti-theft measure. If someone rips your radio out, They are not supposed to be able to use it without the code. |
Re: (Demonis)
Thank You! I was told that you needed to unhook the battery for 2 hours and a radio installer told me you had to let the car run for an hour to clear the error code...touched the positive and negative cable to gether for 10 seconds...presto! Back to the "code" and all is well. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Graci!
