EK Hatch rear sway-bar install
Im looking at buying the Suspension Techniques front and rear sway-bar kit. (For civics without front bars)
Does any one have this kit on a hatch? What is needed to install the rear bar? Will new rear LCAs, endlinks, and a reinforcement brace do the job? If you have a hatch and a sweet ass set-up tell me, pics would be nice too! |

it coems withe evrything you need... no need to get new lca cause endlinks on the ST are at the shock mount

Re: (vietnameeh)
That is for the front, right? What about the rear? I have no stock bars at all.

bump

thats for the rear...
the rear you will need to drill into the subframe also |
Re: (vietnameeh)
I have the ST sway-bar kit for my '00 hatch but haven't installed it yet. The rear bar does not mount correctly when using the ASR subframe brace. The brace moves the sway bar mounting point further from the subframe so the rear bar ends up rubbing against the rear shocks.
I don't think subframe brace is as critical when running the ST rear sway as it's only 19mm vs. the ITR bar which is 22mm. I'm going to run ST front sway, ASR brace, ITR rear sway and sell the ST rear sway. You could also consider OEM Si front sway but you'd need a couple other Si components to install it. |
Re: (cheehee)
Thanks for the heads up. How much for the rear bar?

Re: (RedRocketDX)
I still need more suggestions on a good sway-bar set up.
I want it to be completely bolt-on and all after-market. |
Re: (RedRocketDX)
well from what I recall ST currently makes the only front sway bar designed for Civics without one originally. it's bolt-on and aftermarket. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif all the other options would require Si parts of some sort (lcas, shock forks, etc).
I'll let the rear bar go for $110+s/h. Its brand new, complete with all hardware, never installed (just mocked up). I did spray it dark gray as ST bars are now bright green and I didn't want a color show under my car. lemme know, I'm flexible. |
Re: (cheehee)
I'm just surprised that no one has made a complete kit for hatchbacks. (no matter how much it would cost) I should be the first to do so.

Re: (RedRocketDX)
ST makes a kit for 96-00 Civic's without sway bars. It's part number 52168 and comes with front and rear. It's pretty easy to find.
http://www.performancedepot.co...er=no http://store.racinglab.com/96ciwoefrswb.html http://www.racerwheel.com/st-52168.html Personally I would (and did) just go with a rear ITR bar and no front bar. If you really want a front bar too pick up an EX or Si front bar (will need the front LCAs too). |
Re: (RedRocketDX)
I just installed my ASR kit and ITR rear bar today. Not sure what the guy a few posts up meant about drilling the subframe.
I bought the bar used, came with the D brackets and bushings. ASR kit came with all hardware to install everything, except the 99+ Si (Cdn SiR) endlinks. I went to Honda, got the links and 4 nuts and installed the whole thing in about 1/2 hour. HUGE difference. No front sway yet, but that will come shortly. |
he was askign about the ST rear sway bar install... which you need to drill into the subframe

Re: (vietnameeh)
