need help getting axle nut off, how long of a breaker bar?

Howdy. Tried a search already. I am having a damn time getting the axle nut off my car. Its a 97 lude and uses a 36mm socket. I have a 2' bar over my ratchet and was even jumping on the end of the bar and it didn't budge at all. Think it was probably put on at maybe 250 ft lbs or more. How long of a breaker bar would I need to get that damn thing off? And yes, I did bend the metal tab out of the way on the nut and tried WD40. Any suggestions appreciated.

I've broken a 1/2" breaker bar with a 6' extension on this before! Was hanging on it when it broke and I seen my life flash before my eyes! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif Thankfully there is Craftsman.
Honestly, keep soaking the nut. Try breaking it free after a overnight soaking so that the metal is cool. Use a breaker bar not a ratchet! Other than that put a grip of muscle into it OR use air tools! Good luck.

Obviously the best! I don't forsee that he has the setup. If anything take the car down to the local tire shop with the axlesocket and have them break it free for you.

thanks guys. I'll probably do that, take it somewhere to have the nut broken loose. I'd rather pay them $10-20 for that than have to pay them to change it, or buy air tools. Damn, I need to get some of those. Life would be much simpler.

1) Take the center cap out of the wheel
2) Install the wheel back on the hub
3) Put the car on the ground
4) Install you breaker bar with socket so that the bar is horizontal to the ground... roll the car to get into this position if necessary.
5) Get your buddy to stand on the brake pedal
6) Stand on top of the breaker bar... a slight jump or hop and it should move.

I tried a IR 2135Ti (800ft-lbs max torque) on one of my axle nuts and no go. This technique worked like a charm.
