mobil 1 synthetic. and change it every 3-4k. and use the Honda S2000 oil filter. make sure you change the washer.

There is no reason to change your oil anywhere near 2-3000 miles. You're wasting your money. Synthetics last much longer - in the 5-10,000 mile range. Do an oil analysis if you don't believe it. Just get a good synthetic like mobil 1 or the german castrol.

Re: best vtec oil? (darkstar1440)

Royal Purple here. Call me obsessive but i change my oil every 2500-3500miles with partial quart top offs. h22's are notorious for oil consumption. Valve seals, and cam seals will help. But even from the factory they burn oil. I say check your oil regularly, make sure you're lubricated, top off as needed, and at least change at the recommended interval 3750miles unless you run synthetic then as yield said 5-10kmi. Measuring how much oil is left in your engine between intervals will give you a better idea of how much oil your motor burns or leaks (that's beyond the scope of this discussion). I have seen approx 1qt per 1000mi, of consumption, with conventional oil and half that for royal purple at least on my vehicle. So i think top offs are especially important.

Send some samples to blackstone for analysis. Let a professional determine how long you have before changing your oil.

i change mine every ~4500

2500 is way to earlier.....thats just getting into the oils peak.

Re: best vtec oil? (98vtec)

after i pass 3k, i start thinking about changing it. sometimes i keep it in there until over 4k. but i use synthetic. contrare to what some may say, synthetic does break down if you run your engine hard. i was burning a quart every two weeks before i changed my oil last. and that was after about 4,500 miles.

bad-monkey 04-09-2006 06:17 PM

i change oil every 8000 miles.

mobil 1 10w30.

i refuse to change oil every 3000 miles.

og poster: what kind of oil have you been using for the past 130000 miles? synthetic in a high mileage motor can lead to some headaches.
