car does'nt start....you also have to listen really good and see if your fuel pump kicks right before you crank the motor. I think also if you turn on your car, see if your fuel guage goes up as well. I went through a few of them. Also watch you igniter and coil in your distributor. There famous for failure. You can solve the coil with just buying a cap and external coil. As for igniters good luck.

Not a bad main then, i don't know, check my other thread near this one, i'm getting despirate for a solution, i'm stumped. =\

I've read a few threads on bad mains and they're all like you describe, thought maybe there'd be a few freak cases like mine.

When mine was going out it would start the car then turn it off. I would have to wait a few seconds and try again and it would work fine. When it really started getting bad I would have to try cranking it over couple of times and would hesitate to stay on. Finally one day it bit the bullet but it only cost about $42.00 from Orielly/Autozone brand new and fix the problem.

Good luck

Well, the problem fixed itself!

I don't know what i did, but i hooked a battery charger to it, still dead, then suddenly i got all power, tried to start it, everything shut down. Unhooked the battery terminals while it was still being held on charge, got power back, reattached it to the battery, full power back, started right up, let it run for awhile, shut it down, started right back up again, did that about 10 times.
