How to make my civic fast w/o turbo???

hey i just wanted some suggestions how to make my 2000 civic si fast without going turbo....i got cold air intake....exhaust...headers....cam gears....pulley kit.....and cams....let me know thanks

ekcivic9 02-15-2006 04:38 PM

forced induction is probably the cheapest right now... you already have a b16.

either go turbo, or swap.

you pretty much have all the bolts ......internals will make you fast ....pistons etc. or go with a bigger bottom end .....gsr or ls https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (ekcivic9)

it's a civic.

it cannot be fast without forced induction or F1 level NA work https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

those bolt ons won't do much.....it's not a V8

hey, i know a ot of people are going to flame you about this. really it all depends on the use of the car (drag or daily) and how fast you want to go and also budget.

nitrous is the easiest bang for the buck. if you wanna go N/A: pistons, more aggressive cams, build and sleeve the block/head, a good port and polish, etc.

or some combo of the two.

Re: (monkey marmot)

well he didnt mention his budget.....i assumed he was on a budget since he doesnt want to go turbo

titanium springs and retainers, after market valves, msd ignition, new coil, better plugs, better plug wires, better clutch, lighter flywheel, lighten it up (lighter rims, take out back seat, spare tire, jack etc........nitris. 50 shot wet. if u wanna save up get a stroker kit or forged pistons and rods. really theres an endless amount of options

Mr. Em1 02-15-2006 04:44 PM

wow im surprised he isnt getting flamed, but go with some nitrous, a nice 75 shot will do u good

look this is what you do.... get a 80shot of ZEX... its the safest one to get....

Re: How to make my civic fast w/o turbo??? (flipstar760)

do you want to go N/A? if you turbo it you could go just as fast and spend half the money you would spend on a N/A build. (or you could do the nitrous.)
just my $.02

NOS would be the easiest way... A semi built b16 N/A might give you 160-180whp on the good side... I don't know if you would consider that enough HP to go fast... For an H4 civic at Thunderhill it would be super fast... On the street against a boosted D it might be sorely lacking....

Semi built N/A b16 175whp/125tq-$3000 after the motor < Stock d16z6@10psi 205whp/200tq $2000 after the motor

Re: (fishnfst)

If a 2000 Civic Si with those bolt ons....if you dont consider that "fast" then you really have to either build it to hell (like Endyn with there 300whp B20 block) or your gonna have to look into a K24 from a TSX. FI is the best bang for your buck to go "fast" for ya. Look into a supercharger if ya dont want the turbo lag.

you want to go fast but are on a budget hmmmmm...... wait no no..... ..... ya i got it SPRAY

you already got cams...throw on a bigger intake manifold and chip the ecu thats just my suggestion...

Re: How to make my civic fast w/o turbo??? (SIBlue00)

what cams, what header, what exhaust you got? Any tunning?

If you got no tunning with cams I'm sorry, but that's just retarded.

Anyways just get a b18c bottom end or the whole long block and swap that in.
It will get faster

Also IM would help.

If you wonna go balls out and got like $2500 in your pocket, go get a LS bottom end, sleeve it, get some rod bolts, with high compression pistons and slap your head on it. It will put down some tire shreading numbers

cheap, reliable, fast

pick 2 youll never get the third.

it sounds like your going for fast and cheap

lol i could just see him next month making a thread titled " weird noise from motor". not to be an ass but to the creator of this thread please read first before you do anything and understand all the fundamentals of "making a car fast"

really for the b16 u not gonna make it fast unless you built it man sorry man but i think b16's sucks https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

cyang08 02-15-2006 09:29 PM

Im surprised no one said Vtech controller. i think that is a pretty cheap way of going. but dont get out of controll with that. dont want Vtech kicking in at very low RPMs. atleast thats what i think

weight reduction always helps, take all you don't need out of the car. Won't cost you anything.. hahah

Re: (aallbbeerrtttttt)

you know why they say "when VTEC kicks in" cause the dealerships all say that, as if its a boost control or something. Ive seen em sell it, "well a regular motor compared to a VTEC motor..." It sells tho.
