Hey S2000 owners, whats the recommended mileage for the timing chain inspection and replacement. Just wondering. Thanks

They don't. Eventually they go through enough wear and tear to get a bit of play in them, enough to skew cam timing a couple degrees. They last a hell of a lot longer than belts do though, and I haven't heard of any breaking yet.

Nothing is maintenance-free my friend. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: Recommended Timing Chain Mileage? (Sideways2000)

are timing chains a lot harder to change out than timing belts? belts are fairly easy, but chains sound a lot harder.

Same process, just a chain instead.

Is it like a bicycle chain? Where can I find it? I'm just so clueless from doing S2000 motor swaps, you Prelude owners gotta help me out.

Behind an aluminum timing cover sealed in place with Hondabond for one thing. It would be significantly more time consuming to replace vs. a belt.

If you're really serious about changing the cam chain, you'd better be ready to pull the motor.

Man I took off my valve cover and I saw nothing BUT pulleys n spinning thingies. Was I supposed to turn off my motor first though? Oil splatter burns...

^^ Exactly, except things were spinning and flying and slinging all kinds of cool shit.
