Ksport or D2 coilovers

just wondering which coilover system do you think is better?

hrm a taiwanese mass-produced cheap coilover versus a taiwanese mass-produced cheap coilover. you tell me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

They're pretty much the same thing although I've noticed that sometimes Ksports can be had for cheaper. I don't know if this applies for D2, but SOME Ksports have Tokico shocks.

Check out the sponsor in my sig https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

what it would come dowen to if i were weighing these two is service. is it offered? can they be rebuilt? how happy are people who have dealt with them?

I'm unsure about D2, but the Ksport are serviced in the states. I personally have them on my WRX and love them. Driven my friends CRX with them and they're great there too, and another friend who bought them for his 240sx has had nothing but good things to say about them (although I haven't ridden in it or driven it)

I have them for my EG8, but have not had time to install them yet.

Where abouts in Corona are you? Ever taken your subi on the Ortega Hwy? Thats my daily commute in and out of the OC.

I'm in southern corona https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Haven't taken it to Ortega Hwy. Not a big fan of that road. But haven't taken it to other roads in order to get a good feel for it before I autox and track the car. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

I've been told that Ksport is D2's name in Japan. Same company?

they are the same company. i think ksport is in europe or someting and d2 is in japan

Pretty much same design. I have driven a car on a set for the past 3 months. And pushed it hard. For the street and aggresive driving. maybe occasional track. Does the job pretty damn good for me. And it holds up to some of L.A. and hollywoods nastiest streets and freeways to a level that im amazed by. Surpassed my Tein SS in the durability dept.*sometimes i do miss or missjudge the nasty craters around here* https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Ive had D2's for a few months with no complaints at all https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

No idea on the Ksports though...

SLOW EF8 08-01-2005 08:52 PM

They are tha same, KSPORT and D2. I have da Ksport on my CRX with a custom spring rates and so far no problems and gives me a smooth ride.

Type V 08-21-2005 07:50 PM

wow interesting news to me, K-Sport = D2???

is it just for their coilovers? that they collaborated to produce together and brand differently under contract?

or does this mean K-Sport USA will service - rebuild/revalve - the D2s???

I like my D2's... The Adjustability is a major plus over ghey OmniPower. plus they arent known to snap in half. Great product IMO.

They're very high quality IMO. If you're in So Cal, check with the sponsor in my sig. They are the California distributor for Ksport and have it installed on their cars https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

thisbwill 08-22-2005 10:42 PM

so is it true that d2's are the same as the k sports?

oh ya this is old. anyways, all ksport,d2, hayame, and such are all made by BC http://www.bcec.com.tw/

they are all the same thing. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I also checked out the megan racing coilovers ppl have told me about:

http://www.meganracing.com/pro...d=374

but if you look at that description compared to:

http://www.bcec.com.tw/function/function_01.html

it is almost identical AND the following descrepancies I have found:
- Megan listing 10/8 and 32 way adjustable
- D2 users/seller specify it being 11/7 and 32 or 36 way adjustable*
- K-Sports being 10/6 and 36 way adjustable*

* but this is just general overview that I recollect after researching posts and info REGARDING D2 and KSport over the last few days.

everyone says they look gawd awfully similar... and well, someone on Vancouver Civics Club seemed to have gave us the concrete solution.

D2 = K-Sport = Hayame = Megan

anymore to add to this list?

btw, the TDM (Taiwan Domestic Market) or MIT (Made In Taiwan) manufacturer states their piston diameter to be 44mm. I have yet to get a reply from any one specifying the piston diameter for D2, K-Sport, Megan.

If indeed they all have the SAME piston diameter... then I am lead to believe all the "slightly different pricing" of each BRAND name of coilover is perhaps due to small differences such as specified spring rates and ## way adjusability?

I hope this is valid info, please correct me if i'm wrong... I am done.

Re: (Type V)

Well remember that Ksport and D2 are not all 11/7 or 10/6. They have different spring rates for all their applications rather than just slapping the same stuff together for every car https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

For example, my WRX Ksport has spring rates of 7k/5k and its still pretty damn stiff. You can't even more the car pushing on it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: (SMZ GSR)

same company= NO!!

Manufactured at the same factory= YES!!

K-sport has disclosed that on other forums*i read it on the 350z forum*, But each company has there input over design and engineering. I have even heard the new Apexi entry level coilovers are made at the same facility*dont quote me*, so if thats the case, what does that say??

All im saying if the product works for the buyer. I could care less. I have driven on them and they did everything for me that my tein SS did, maybe a little more. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I agree with mikey on the teflon thing and also the D2 have the little adjuster position knob at the top to "help" you know how far you are acutally adjusting them opposed to the K-Sport that you just have to pay attention to the logo on the adjuster knob to set them.

I've got the K-Sports on my 90' EF H/B and I have to say they are the best bang for the buck when it comes to decent coil-overs.

I have the D2's on my S2K. They are defently stiff then stock. I have heard different spring rates from different compaies about the springs rates for my kit. Initial Quailty is pretty good. I'm only 3 weeks in so we will see.

Thus far https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Oh and D2 is 50mm Piston, and is dual piston Nitrogen and Gas in seperate containers. Someone up there was asking.

Re: (badboypolar2)

50mm piston? You sure about that?
Nitrogen is the gas, the other chamber is oil filled.
