Radiator leak: easy fix?
 

Just noticed last night that I have a radiator leak, and coolant is coming out
when the water expands from heat.

Is there anything I can buy that would seal any leaks?

I saw there was a group buy on Fluidyne radiators, but it's $360, and I'm already
paying for a clutch change next week for $360 (replace, resurface flywheel, main
oil seal replace)

They have temporary patching stuff at auto stores. It's like some sort of liquid w/ pellets. Really don't know the details but it worked on a big turbo diesel truck in a pinch. Basically you warm up the engine, shut it, add the stuff in the radiator cap, close it and idle for 15 min. Not saying its a fix, but it'll keep you running. BTW, the truck went 2 weeks before a replacement and it was still holding. Just make sure its the radiator and not any hoses.

is the leak bad. I would advise against putting that stop leak goo in there. radiator shop should be able to salvage the radiator with minimal costs.

I'm guessing that any liquid expansion from heat gets leaked out..

Haven't had any problems with overheating, and the radiator is full after adding
less than 1/10 of a liter of fluid.

It just smokes like crazy when I stop.

Anyone out there with a Fluidyne?

How much better VS. honda radiator are they? I hear that the Honda
cooling systems are quite efficient as it is...

that stop-leak stuff pretty much ruined my radiator - clogged all the passages something terrible.

one time my friend smeared jbweld on the part of the radiator that was leaking. he let it sit for overnight and he was lucky after that cuz no more leaks.

Hmm.. just looked at it again, and it looks like the top portion where
the dark brown joins with the metal portion is saturated with coolant..
Kinda like the whole top portion is leaking.

endtank is seperating. a new radiator is like 180, fluidyne is 360...your call. i had the same thing happen to me, and i went with the fluidyne (with a fal fan)

Go with C&R Radiators, it comes with a fan already attached to the radiator on a nice little bracket too. I personaly like it better then fluidyne.

Never use the stop leak stuff, that stuff will kill it faster and cause more problem! Try look again there might be a small crack some where and not between the aluminium and plastic. For temperaly fix, use JB Weld, it works perfect. Try looking in to C&R radiators, I like their weld quality and my radiator fan have not kick in since I installed it.

Any fix for "End Tank separating?" Can I fix this?

Ok, did a little research.... I can get a fluidyne for $315, Koyo for $350.
And a slim line fan for $70 (9").

Does anyone have a setup with these, because the description for the slim line
fan says it's 2.98" deep... I had to cut 1/12 into the stock radiator fans...

Will this fit???
