Cigarette Lighter Fuse?

The lighter quit working in my 93 Accord EX, and neither fuse block has a blown fuse, or shows a fuse protecting the lighter. Anyone know where to look?

There IS a fuse protecting the lighter, but I couldn't tell you where it is in an Accord. It could also be the relay. Or the cig lighter itself. Did you try swapping it with one from another car?

theres a fuse in/behind the lighter itself.

Yea, I switched lighters, tried a phone charger, and then checked for power - there ain't none there. Got to be some protection somewhere...

Sabastian, how does one attack it?

i have a 5th gen so i dunno if this goes for you too but on the back of my cig lighter there is a (ground?) wire and its VERY fragile like connected it will brake off VERY easily and you wouldnt notice. try that maybe

That's a good point about the wiring behind the lighter. There's also a relay that feeds the lighter. On mine (Acura) it's right above the under-dash fuse fuse box. Don't know if yours is in the same place, but there IS a relay in a cig lighter circuit.

omg, I'm glad somebody noticed it! mines broke and for a while I went crazy looking for the solution! Now the ground piece is hung by a metalic wire...

No loose wires- I will try to get ahold of a wiring diagram.

On my 92, the cig lighter is on the fuse marked 'radio/motor antenna' in the kick panel

Well, both those accessories are working...

Re: Cigarette Lighter Fuse? (Ranger)

If the stereo and the antenna motor are getting their juice, then the cig relay is getting all its inputs. If its contacts are corroded, it won't be able to get voltage to the other side of the relay. No voltage to the cig lighter.

Do you have a voltmeter or a 12V test light?
